hey i was curious on the zx2 dash swap in a 3rd gen sedan. i know its been done before i was just curious if i could still use my gauge cluster in that dash. also do i need anything special for the venting in the center??

The 3rd gen cluster won't look right because the shape of the opening in the dash is different.

It will be a job as entire bottom of the opening and the dash itself goes at a slant.

I don't know why you want the ZX2 dash anyway. It has a much worse fit and finish than the 3rd gen dash and won't match up well with the 3rd gen door panels. I could see doing it though if you had a donor ZX2 and were already doing the Zetec swap.

well see the dash i could get for free and if im looking at the clusters right they look the same just like you said the dash goes at an angle. now i have seen this dash in the 3rd gen and it looks really good. no modified door panels either. the reason im wqanting to do this is because my outside beauty plate that houses the vents shattered on my 3rd gen. now instead of trying to repair it and it not matching up at all i was offered the zx2 dash and was contemplating it.

Oh, you mean the piece that goes around the cluster and has the vents in the middle? I can get those cheap at the junkyard.

At most, they are like $10 for the whole surround, and that is on the extreme price scale.

Where are you located? It would probably be alot cheaper for you to find a salvage yard near you than for us to find one and ship it. What color do you need?

Even the pull-it-yourself ones? I know can get one for you but shipping it is going to be the hard part. I would have to make a box for it because of the odd shape and shipping is going to cost more. I still don't know exactly how much the yard wants for that part as it isn't on their online price list but the fact that a whole dash pad is $16 makes me think it will be cheap.
