That looks like my wife's Honda and a friend's Toyota a couple years ago. A couple valves stuck in guides, bent when hit piston and there is nothing holding the little rocker arms once the valve is open and cam lobe on base circle.

Was from this video. Guess Ecotec engines don’t like being low on oil
They engineered an elaborate auto-shutoff feature for when you run it low on oil. There wasn't enough of a guarantee that running low on oil would kill the engine quickly enough so they designed it so that it would jump timing if you ran low on oil. 😆 Joking of course. Actually tensioners that utilize oil pressure probably aren't all that unusual. (the jump timing might be though?)
