    I had a serpentine belt shred like this on my Buick when the crank pulley separated. Everything still worked fine - only giveaway was the shreds of the belt slapping against the underside of hood.

    I wonder if folks put the brake pad in backwards just to post a photo of it. I mean that brake pad/disk does not look like it was driven long if at all with a backwards pad.

    Yes, it would have been a shiny thing; but only being a shell, it would get chewed up - especially from guys who didnt bother to get the right sized socket.
