well...i grew up in Norway..18 years old and i got my drivers license. :D
I drove my dad's 89 Mazda 626 2.0, and i loved speed.. My house was located 15km away from town, and I drove that stretch quicker and quicker every day. Normally it would take about 12-13 minutes to drive this stretch of curves and hills and tons of moose crossings....yes i said moose, the huge animal that resembles the white tail...just a lot bigger...(makes a lot more damage to a car too.....)
anyhow...
I raced anything and everything in my hometown...i didn't pass up a dare for anything....
My car topped out at 185 km/h...something i got close to each and every day driving to and from work. The stretch of road from town to my house, was done in 3 minutes and 50 seconds one time... i used to love the feeling i got after going really too fast....but it got old after a while.
I raced a Mercedes 500 once....whenever he went to pass i dropped her down in 3rd and floored it..he just couldn't find a strecth long enough for him to pass.... He kept up with me, and he finally flew by me and showed me his favorite finger.....i was doing 170 at that point..if you ever played the original Test Drive, you might remember the twisty twirly west coast scenario with the mountain on the one side, and a cliff on the other....yeah..nuff said...
Volvo 240's, BMW 318's, Audi 80's, Peugeot 406's, Accord's.. oh yeah...and the train.. lol
The train between my house and town, wound through the woods parallell with the main road, E6.. I beat the train from one station to the other.. crazyy...
After racing for a few months and being young and stupid and ignorant, I got dared to jump this bridge...It's got quite the history of kids jumping this thing before...One actually jumped it and landed in the front of a semi...not pretty...especially not with a Ford Granada...
Anyway...started out slow...and progressed faster and faster...started at 50km/h...normally people do 30km/h across this thing, and get the tingly feeling in their stomach... I ended up at 110 km/h, and at that point my springs and shocks and exhaust and everything else that has to do with ground contact felt an impact rougher than the mazda ever did, and ever would know of... Flying with a car....lol....not everything it's all hyped up to be...it's just straight out stupid..
It seemed like the car picked up a little bit of oomph after that..It would constantly run out of water in the reservoir....and it ran hot constantly...i kept refilling, and refilling, and refilling the water tank....until one day i came home after making that 15 km stretch in about 4 - 5 minutes....i heard this funny sound coming from the car...almost like when something is boiling...well...that's probably what it WAS doing....
after having it cool down a little bit, i removed the radiator cap, and this gooey grey brownish thick paste came gushing out....
my well known famous bridge jump had most likely caused this...I had a crack in the engine block... My dad sold the car and i bought a Renault Megane..This car was not any slower, but at that time i drove a little more responsibly.. you learn for as long as you live....
I was driving home one night returning from work, speedlimit was 80km/h, i was putsing along at around 120km/h.... (i was driving more responsibly, at least i wasn't doing 180 no more... lol )
As i passed this parked Ford Mondeo, all black car, with a guy inside with something that looked like an oversized gun pointing at my car, I realized i was in trouble.... as i passed the second one parked beside the road with one of these oversized guns.... lol ... i slowed down to about 100... my driveway was just about 200 meters ahead...i pulled in to my driveway, and i noticed a marked cop car about 5-600 meters ahead turn his flashers, lights, sirens, and everything else they could think of to get this "Unidentified speeding object"'s attention... I sped up my driveway and pulled my car up into the hayloft of the barn, shut the door, ran into my house, flipped the main breaker and waited......The cop car came up my driveway, the cop came out and scratched his head...he couldn't see my car anywhere... thank god my car was really dirty and the license plates were coverd in dirt.....

You look back on this and think....geez, how the heck could i be this dumb...irresponsible, and just nuts! ... well..you're only young once, your parents or others can't guide you past all the potholes...somebody just have to learn on their own...me included..

I have improved greatly on my driving habits..i'm not a reckless driver anymore, due to the fact that i learned my lesson a few times..

I know everybody likes speed, me included...just make sure you won't harm anyone else in the process, okay?!!

Drive responsibly, not (w)recklessly...

(I flew by a fairly new grand prix the other day, full of kids, driving my wifes 97 3.8 Firebird. The girl driving was probably trying to impress her boyfriend riding shotgun..
she passed me, and i was doing 65 mph..in a 55..I floored it an reached 100mph in no time, and flew by waiving..... seconds later i pull onto m-53, and i'm followed by a state boy for 7 miles...my cruise was set to 55mph all the way...)

PS. The whistler radar detectors really don't work worth of shit for state cops and their trigger radars... I was clocked at 74 in a 55, and my radar detector beeped once...ONCE!!! the cop was great though...he wrote me down for 60... could that have been because my 97 escort wagon was very underestimated, and he doubted his own radar reading???

possibly...

well, if you got down to here and read this entire message, wow, you must be bored...

if you have to learn the hard way, just make sure the only one you can hurt is yourself, and have fun....

well, i dunno. i disn't learn the hard way. after awhile i started slowly but surely slowing down and sticking near the speed limit. ironically, it was once i started going slower, then i got my speeding ticket! --the hell?!

Yup, same here. I didn't get a single ticket while i was speeding like crazy, but after i started slowing down i started getting pulled over and finally got a ticket just last year.....

and i thought my radar detector would prevent them tickets...NOOOO!!!....well, i take that back..
there's been quite a few times when the cops been hiding in the bushes or the corn fields..literally!! (i live in the thumb of michigan...) My radar detector potientially paid for itself... lol, weird sentence.....

yeah, radar detectors are illegal in some states over here as well. it usually will say which states have a ban on them in the instruction manual of the radar detector. for some reason massachussettes hates radar detectors.. i don't know why.. :?

Same thing happened to me when I had my first car over a year ago. My awesome 85 Volvo 245, it hauled ass for a wagon, probably because it has less than 80k miles on it. Yes, you heard right, a 240 with less than 100k on it....Well anyways, I used to do no less than 60 on the main road which the speed limit is 40-45, never once even came close to getting caught. After I blew the tranny on that car I got an 87 LeBaron and since it was balls slow I wouldn't even push it hardly ever. The first time I hit 50 in that car I get nailed, ironic eh?

Enough of that, onto the races.

Just this past weekend I beat my friend in his 87 Integra LS SE (1 of 2500) with the 1.6 DOHC and an Akimoto CAI. Not only did I beat his ass senseless, but I did it with 5 people in my car and he was by himself! And I did it 4 times, best one was from a 40 roll, I started off in second and everyone here knows how torque-y 1.8's are in first and second. Needless to say I mopped him up even when I bogged at the light on our last race. :D

On the way to the movies a few weeks ago I spanked another Integra, this time, one that was actually quick! It was a new one too, like 97 or so, I had 5 people in my car again and I actually chirped third, first time I'd ever done that. The kid was so pissed off that he tried to sideswipe me after I stomped him!

More ricers aside the best race I ever had was against this kid and a couple of his buddies in an Audi A4 1.8T. He cut me off by making a left from the right turning lane as I was pulling out of work. I wasn't having that, I had a horrid day at work so as soon as it turned to 2 lanes I got up next to him and stomped it in 2nd gear at about 35, he did the same and we pulled even up to about 90-95 where I pulled a few feet ahead, we got all the way up to 110 MPH and finally he let off because I was running out of road. At the stop light up the road I got in the left turning lane to go to McDonalds and he pulled up next to me in the right lane, he wanted to race again but I was hungry so I locked my E-Brake, checked for cops, and did my best smoke show ever right in the middle of the road! I could hardly tell when the light turned green there was so much smoke around my car and anyone in the vicinity. The ricers at Mc D's were impressed with my little show surprisingly. ^_^

Somebody mentioned something about jumping cars and how it's stupid? Well he's damn right, it's about as stupid a thing you can do with a vehicle but the rush is better than a top speed run! Although I went a little far a couple days ago and really cased my back end on a second bump and ended up slicing a muffler mount right in half and busting the pipe right off in front of the muffler. Oh well, less weight = more speed!

I've only been spanked and it was by sports sedans so go figure! Last week I got dusted, but not TOO dusted by a new Acura 3.2 TL. Then one of the first nights I had my car some old bastard in a new Saab 9-3 Turbo ate me up at the last second. :(

well, you guys are all talking about jumping cars and how it's stupid..... and i'm 18...... but i realize, that a car ain't a motorcycle, and i ain't evil knevil....... now don't get me wrong... i have dirtbikes, and i know there's a time and a place for jumping...... out in a big field with a huge mound of compact dirt doing the better of 70mph (oh yeah, and don't forget to preload the shocks haha) i would probably break my poor car if i jumped something haha but i did get stopped once for doing 60 in a 35, but he said i was only doing 53 (that was the guy next to me you sucker cop) but i didn't even get a ticket... just a warning. so it's all good. that was when i was 16 years old. 2 years later, i have my own car, my beautiful 94 EGT w/5-speed manual, oh yeah, she's quick. the other day coming home from my g/fs late at night, just after a rain, already doing about 25 (prolly in 1st gear) i stomped on it and got the tires to LIGHT up. i mean, there's spinning, but i just got these burnin lol and even had them spinnin through 2nd gear lol doing, maybe 35 mph, within the space of maybe 3 houses (i'm in the city) but i think my tranny might be screwed up in first and 2nd gears, because they bog down my engine usually, and i don't have alot of torque in the low end of those gears, until about maybe 2750-3000 rpms..... is this a problem anybody else is experiencing???? because it's really driving me crazy, and i think it's making my engine work harder, and sucking my gas, causing my 10mpg fuel economy

they don't all cost that much.... i find them all the time anywhere from $100-600 for some pretty awesome bikes (if you're a smoker, quite smoking for a month, you'll have extra money for one..... or quit smoking for a year, and you can buy a brand new one)

if you don't smoke, then do this.... whenever you break a dollar, spend money and get change back, ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY really, take the change, roll it..... take it to the bank, within a couple months you should have $100-200 easy.... stuff like that makes you realize just how much change really does add up

OR try method number three..... every time you fill up with gas.... any single dollar bills that are left over from breaking a $20 or a $5, put it away..... THAT ADDS UP QUICK

Oh yeah, by the way - we have Moose here in the U.S. and Canada, too. I almost ran one over while I was in Minnesota. Or more like, ran into it. I think it would messed up my car real bad. I speed all the time and rarely get pulled over, too. It's only when you're not paying attention that you get caught. Pay attention to your driving and don't speed while doing other things.
