check the rear quarters on the back side of the wheel wells for rust. Also check the jack pocket in the passenger side of the trunk. Those are the normal problem areas for rust. Other than that, the 2nd gens are pretty solid cars. The auto trans could always use an aftermarket trans cooler, just FYI.

You will find the Escort to be reliable, and a LOT less expensive to fix than a BMW. Take it from someone who has owned both.

The beautiful thing about the pacnw, cars have very little rust. But like Dave said, check it anyway just to be sure. Seems like a steal for 1300, but if you want to upgrade to a GT there is one in Tacoma, WA. They are asking 1100 for it.
