I'll be doing the head gasket on my 90 LX, and figure I might as well upgrade to a GT cam while it's apart.

Let me know what you have!

That’s a hard cam to find, it was only in some late 88s and 89/90 GTs. Also the lifters are different on a GT. They extend a wee bit more. Probably better to swap the lifters, and springs along with the cam. But as far as I know its not 100% required to use the GT lifters so long as you have the corresponding lifters.

I have a set of GT valve springs if you want them. they are NOS and I don't need them. I have aftermarket heavy duty valve springs in my car. I have one other person in line ahead of you that may want them tho.

Are both of these roller lifters? If so, this is a surprise to me. I thought there was only one hydraulic roller lifter for the CVH engine series. Rockauto agrees:

Fits GT Model; Hydraulic. Roller follower.
or Base Model; LX Model; LX Sport; Pony Model; Hydraulic. Roller follower.

Please refer to catalog for application details.

This is why you should never trust rock auto for first gen stuff. The lifters on a gt can extend further out. I forgot the exact amount, but its very small. I can check my shop manual if you’d like to know the difference.

Sure, I'd like to know the difference, or part numbers. I'm still skeptical, but willing to be convinced when shown good evidence.
I'm with Joey on this one... I really was unaware of any difference between applications.

If those springs are available, I'll take them. It's funny- I had hoped that if anyone had this cam, it would've been you!

I'd like to double check with OEM Ford publications. I tried looking up part numbers online from one of the OEM Ford parts sellers, but there were no listings for these early parts.

Of course if you have actual parts and can measure them, that would be great.

I’ll take a look at my lifters soon. I need to go down to my old garage to grab the spring anyway
