I need a new speedo for my car.. I believe that I have to buy the whole cluster. If anyone has one that would fit a 96 Escort LX, that would be great. Right now mine has the temp, Gas, Speed, and Tach. Thanx in advanced!!! Will need it to be shipped and working!

Yo Brad.

I got you a cluster today. It's the wrong one, but it's got a speedo with only 180,000 km on the clock, or close to that. You can easily just swap the speedo, if you remove the lens. I've already got the speedo removed and ready to go. I'll need an address.

If anybody wants the temp or fuel gauges, lemme know. I'll hold onto 'em for a while - then they go in the garbage.

I've started to find some of the music, but it is fairly difficult.... I got a friend who may have it already though! With the Speedo, is it possibly to replace the odometer like on my Grand Prix, or do I just leave the odometer and have one of those stickers placed in my door when it's replaced?

The speedo is essentially all one unit - I wouldn't want to start messing with it. Just put a sticker on the door or whatever - only needed if you plan to sell the car.

I'll package up the speedo and send it along - might not be till next week.

I had already pulled this cluster out of the car before, so I just grabbed it today while I was plundering an Explorer. There was a sport cluster in one of the Escorts - but it was an American one (showed mph predominantly) so I elected not to get that one.

Once you get your cluster out, actually swapping the speedos is very easy, so I thought this was best. Just remember to throw a dab of grease in/on the bushing before re-installing - dielectric grease is recommended.

Thanx! I hope this will solve my problem (and from what I've heard... it should!) I didn't really want to spend teh $470 for a new one from Ford.

ummmm....where you p0lanning on getting that from....Ford Lasers go to 240km/h but no amerocan escort has a 220km/h cluster

why don't you swap a Protege Cluster or a MX3 one. The protege one goe sto 240 and the tach and speedo is really nice and big.

Is there anywhere to get custom stuff too.... because I eventually plan on making the inside of my car look as horible as the outside of it by painting it and stuff!

Turbo:

I got you a GT sport cluster today. Due to time constraints, I wasn't overly picky - I grabbed the one from the dash that was most disassembled.

It's not like there's anything obviously broken, but it's high mileage - 1991 281,000 km. I have the whole cluster. Let me know if you want it; the post right above this one offers you a speedo with less mileage on it.

Again - it's from the junkyard. There is no warranty with it and I can make no assurances that anything works. But the price is right - it's free.

Highanddry.... how much do you want for the shipping? I don't want you to be losing any money. You already spent the time to go out and find it and now the money to send it. I think you should at least be asking for some money to be donated to FEOA as long as the part is in working condition.

Brad:

Speedo is going in the mail to you tomorrow, via parcel post. I think they guarantee delivery within a week or something. Slow, but cheap...like me.

Hope it solves your problem; lemme know how it works out. If you can't figure out how it goes in there, PM me. You have to lift the other guages out, off their posts, before the speedo will fit in properly (ie speedo must be the first gauge you set in the cluster. There's a rubber donut that fits in between the behind the back of the speedo and the back of the cluster housing. You'll see when you pull your existing one apart.

Turbo:

I'm still holding this cluster if you want. If I had a GT, I'd test it for you, but the cluster on my LX is different and I ain't pulling my dash apart again to try to test it if I'm not sure it'll even work on my wiring.
