Hey, so long story short I started to take care of my grandparents' E46 325xi. Problem is, it's automatic and absolutely not my cup of tea. Handles nice, but just not a fun car. So, I've been looking at bargain bin cars nearby... But in the northeast salt, the $2k Miatas in California are more like $3k, and the $3k Miatas are $5k. It's an awful market. Sooo, instead I've been trawling the bargain bin for easily-fixable or underlooked cars which I can beat on and get 3 pedals back in my life. Now, the last time I did this I ended up with a ZX3 while my WRX was in the shop... I bought and sold it for $1300, and I enjoyed it more than the WRX during the short time I've had it. Now that I'm looking for bargain cars, I've stumbled upon a nearby ZX2 without about 170k on the clock, some minimal fender damage (will have to check the frame myself), and for $1000. I was really pleased with how chuckable the ZX3 was - might've been because it was $1300, but I figure the same-ish car that's lighter, lower, and cheaper can't possibly be less fun. Is this worth going for? Am I going to probably get that $1000 back if I sell it later? Or should I just be patient and put the $1000 towards the blacktop MR2 build that dances around in my head?
