What have you done to your car that you wish that you had never done, and you would tell everyone else not to bother doing?

On 1.9L: 3.8L TB / bigger intake, without doing anything to the exhaust, head, cams, or cam gear.
GTX: Energy Suspension motormount inserts. I think they would be fine on a stock N/A engine (1.8 or 1.9), but the GTX has too much torque. I think fully-filled-with-urethane mounts are going to happen over winter.

at a meet where we just used 3m tape and four screws (two on each end) to mount my wings west front air dam to the bumper of my ZX2. needless to say... forgetting the three bottom screws was a mistake having it fall off 2 hours later cruisin at 65 MPH on the highway ;-) (i got it back, ended up being installed correctly) and it's actually sitting here next to me waiting to be repainted to my new zx2)
building my 1.9 before swaping in the zetec. the amount of money i put in that motor, i could have a built turboed motor im my car right now. i wish i never did any thing to my interior. i would love to just have black leather interior. i miss being able to clean my dash off and shine it up.you know the good stuff.

Putting a 120 dollar muffler from autozone on. It sounds great, but I got it about a month or so after I got my car and I knew absolutely nothing about cars except that the right pedal was go, left of that was stop...wait, whats this third pedal doing down there?? lol But anyway, my buddy who is mostly into show (i'm all go now) told me to put it on. It sounds reall nice, and low, but its the rattling of my existing exhaust pipes on my axel every time I stop that bothers me the most...If I can ever remember, I'll go wedge another gatorade bottle between the hanger and the bumper...because there is really no place to hang it from, so I have a hanger that I wedge to te bumper with the bottle.
Either that or buying aftermarket pedals. I got those the same day I shaved my emblems...glad I got all of the ricer out of me that day.

Yea when I was putting a hood scoop on my car, and when I was cutting I assumed the braces were centered...nope. I ended up with a two inch half circle hole just past the edge of the scoop. Got that welded back on and am gonna paint the scoop the color of my car in the next week so its all good.Josh_LX said:

taking off the resonator on my intake.... believe it or not, it's there for a reason, and no not just to make it quieter. it helps it run smoother in balance with the resonator AFTER the air filter, controlled by a sensor on the head. it made it idle real low and pretty rough, and when it started getting colder, it stalled on me. so i put it back on, and it's been completely fine ever since. the resonators are actually put there to maximize torque at different engine speeds. seriously, leave it on.

I've had no problems, nor any noticable performance loss (or noticiable gain either, really) with mine off. I DO, however, notice the intake sound, and enjoy it.thescortgt said:

Perhaps, though you didn't mention. I'd think the part's purpose would be the same either way.

I ordered that little 8$ resistor off ebay for the promised 10-20hp but after reading the installation directions, I decided not to put it on my car.
p.s. only 2 more days of my friggin throttle locking up all the time until I get my new idle airflow sensor! w00t!

Worst mod, I'm suprised nobody hit on the cat removal issue yet. I am buying a high flow in a few days, because although I noticed increased low end, I'm having backpressure issues (backpressure, or whatever you like to call it, since I have been told by most people that backpressure doesn't even exist on a 4 stroke)
