I am stumped! I love my 91 mervury tracer and am pretty good at fixing things, at least I think, but electrical systems are not me.

Fuse is good.
Motor is good.
Integral (13K539) switch is good.
The relay or governor is in the 13K539, so that is good.

My wipers won't work. I am thinking I have lost a ground somewhere. Can someone please HELP me figure this out? My wipers are not all the way to there resting postition, which makes me think I have a grounding issue. If all was well and I turned on the car, they would go back to rest...right?

Please, Please help...yes I am begging. I love my car and need it working.

By the way is someone needs intregral switch or motor, i have extras! 8O

Exactly how are you testing all of these things? I'm inclined to think that you may be correct, but still have a bad electrical connection someplace.

My wipers would work 'sort of' - but ran slow & unevenly, sometimes stopping. Sometimes they would return, sometimes not. After removing the wiper motor assembly, I opened up the plastic lid over the gear mechanism, where the little fingers are that ride on the rotating face of the gear. The grease was hardened, and there was signs of arcing on the ends of the fingers, and the metal surface they rode on. I cleaned it out, polished away the arcing with fine emery cloth, and re-greased it. I also cleaned up the metal surfaces where the ground wire connections were, on the motor assembly and the body of the car. Now the wipers work fine. As I have two Escorts, a 92 and a 94, both wagons, I need to do the same little job to the other car. Whatever repair/fix/replacement I make on one car I usually make on the other car too.
