Just wondering what made everyone buy their escorts?

I was looking for a new car and almost got me a 4 door tempo then a girl said her dad was selling a 2nd gen for 400 dollars and that it was very clean. I went and checked it out and loved it, very clean and sport for except the blown head gasket and engine problems but I figued it be worth fixing and I was right.

I needed a car and this one had tons of pep for 1900 dollars. My brother drove it and said he really liked it, meanwhile he still had his 00 Civic Si so I took that as a compliment.

I still wish I had that little money pit sometimes.

I needed a car back in 95, had owned and driven various Escorts since I was in Germany in 90, figured I liked them and the car was in incredible shape and 2 years old so I shelled out the $10,000 for it and the rest is history...come to think of it...I may have almost the highest initial investment of the 2gen owners here...as I bought mine while it was still fairly new...lol

I needed a cheap and allegedly reliable daily/winter driver ... something economical, both in terms of gas and what it can get by on snow tire-wise ... wagon was a nice extra, easier to haul stuff around, a lot easier to drive the dog around, etc. etc.

My dad's work has a few work trucks that they get rid of every few years. My brother got a descent 1995 Silverado with 150,000 miles on it for $1500 (that my dad paid for.) The week before he went to college (the truck would have been mine to sell and buy something more economical) he put a hole in his tranny. My moron dad decided to sell it to someone for $1500, getting what he paid for it I suppose but even with a dropped tranny it was worth three grand. He used that money to buy the Escort. I had a choice between buying a red, sporty Escort GT or a grey (with burgundy interior, yuck!) 93 Taurus for a thousand more. I got the Escort, though mostly for economic reasons.

Wanted a cheap h/b 5spd. That was decided after parents refused to co-sign a loan for a older Miata for sale by my house. That woulda been fun... Almost got a Colt for a couple grand less, but it was sold before I reached the dealer. Scort was next in line, and I got it. Lurved it ever since.

my 89 Chevy Corsica was having transmission problems and it slipped alot. But I actually couldn't drive it anymore when the part that connects the transmission to the front right wheel broke. I didn't have a car for a week and I didn't want to fix the Corsica because it wasn't worth it. My grandfather found my 95 Escort LX sport and I got it for $650. Not bad eh

HMM auntie gave it to me, taught it was a POS. cuz i was a honda lover back then......after learning more and more about car, and i always wanna try to put something in a civic that no one has ( to be unique to be exact )..but then every single item and day i manage to find a part to put it in a car, i always see a car or 2 or 5 civic has the part i wanted to put in my future civic....but then i was searching online for parts for my civic and gave up, but then i tried Escort gt . i stumble on Escortracing.com.. i was like !!!!WTF???? a escort racing , hahahha bitches running hahha, but after seeing neumans car and dennis (ONEGIMP), i was shocked that no one has that car and kit... so i searched more n more, and decided to fix this bugger up, now i got parts and a car that no one has ,all police and some show off kids who pretends that he knows alot about the car dont know what car i have, and i love it!!!! UNIQUE BABY!!

I was looking for a cheap, run-down, rusty, cast-off, orhpan of a beater.

I got it.

That was eight years ago and I haven't done a drop of body work since. Just imagine what it looks like now. Actually, I was forced to replace every possible body part after the hood flew up on me going down the highway. But the rear fenders are all original and haven't been washed or waxed since I bought it.

I paid $12,000 for my LX new in 1995.
It was a replacement for my 1985GT which needed a new engine and most likely a transmission and a few other things.

Mine was pretty much dumped on me by my dad. Its a great car though because he paid as much as he could for like a thirty year extended warrenty when he bought it new and about three years ago he got stuck in a puddle and got a new engine for free, so my 99 escort engine only has like 50,000 miles. Also, a few years ago my mom got him a remote control starter for x-mas, and so now I have it which is cool. The only bad thing, well its not bad, but he bought the cheapest lowest base model escort with the only power is locks.

I had bought my first brand new car in 2000, a Hyundai Elantra. In 2001 when the IT bubble busted, I needed to sell the car fast. So I ended up loosing about $2000. In 2002 I needed a car again. Vowed never to loose more the above mentioned loss. Saw that a local lot had acquired an Escort Gt or a Gt clone. I wasn't sure. It was a GT but with an LX front. Got it for $2000. Since March 2002 I have put less than $500 of non maintenace work on the car. The stereo is another story......:)

ummmm.... I had a Grand Prix, but it was causing some problems and I thought it was nearing the end of it's life. My ex's Grandma was selling her escort with only 45000 miles on it for about $2600. I bought the car, and I have put a fair bit into it. Just recently it's running into some small problems and the Grand Prix is for some reason still going strong! Both cars are decent, but the Grand Prix is rusted out all to hell.

ALso, I needed something reliable. My Chevy s10 left me stranded about 10 times in 4 years before the BAM!

Unlike the gas gauge, when the Temp gauge pegs, BAM! MU HAHAHA

Needed a car after selling my 92 Protege and the Scort was a year newer, had 105,000 less miles on it, and cost what I sold my Protege for. 8) So it worked out pretty good.
