What would cause my car to hesitate after I race....From Idel I can kick the gas to the floor and it takes the engine about 2 seconds to go from 1200 to 2500RPM and it almost sounds like its coughing

ummm how full is the tank. does it only happen below a certain amount?

check the intake for holes. patch any with duct tape or electrical tape until you can get a replacement. those are the first two easy checks
