Someone mentioned in another post having recently bought stainless steel brake lines. (What that the good Mr. Clements?) Please let me know where you bought them from, what they cost, and whether this is a mod someone could undertake on his own if he´s never undertaken anything more than a tune-up.

Thanks

Thanks guys.

I´m now wondering whether there´s any point in brake upgrades. A garage claimed that braided stainless steel lines make no difference. And I just replaced the cross-drilleds I installed two years ago because one of them broke clear across the radius. (It made a hell of a racket when that happened; it being 28 below at the time, I thought it was just a frozen tire. Good thing I was only going ice racing that day & hardly needed brakes.)

For the record, what does make a great deal of difference is carbon metallic pads. It takes a lot more pedal effort when they´re cold. But for those of you down south, you´ll never have problems with fade. They make them only for the front on the Escort but, of course, that´s where it counts.

what makes braided lines better is the fact that braided lines do not expand when you apply the brakes like standard rubber lines do.
