Thanks guys.
I´m now wondering whether there´s any point in brake upgrades. A garage claimed that braided stainless steel lines make no difference. And I just replaced the cross-drilleds I installed two years ago because one of them broke clear across the radius. (It made a hell of a racket when that happened; it being 28 below at the time, I thought it was just a frozen tire. Good thing I was only going ice racing that day & hardly needed brakes.)
For the record, what does make a great deal of difference is carbon metallic pads. It takes a lot more pedal effort when they´re cold. But for those of you down south, you´ll never have problems with fade. They make them only for the front on the Escort but, of course, that´s where it counts.
