Gaskets will not improve performance! :p
I bough mine at Car Quest, don't know if you have them in USA.
Don't take one in plastic because it's just scrap!
Sure they will...

gaskets that seal better give better performance. Especially when adding artificial displacement. I know theres a company that makes aftermarket gaskets but I dont remember the name of it.

Gasket works is one place where you can get one. I had another company make the one i have. If you want ill get there name and number. I know they have the specs on file now. My builder sent them a stock 1.9 gasket and they sent back the copper one. And the stock one as well.

Damn how much did you pay for your copper head gasket? John Smith had his copper head gasket made by Gasket Works so they had his specs on file for a first gen GT Escort head gasket. Also the copper gasket will work for both first and second gen 1.9 engines. The only problem with copper head gaskets is that I hear they are hard as hell to get them to seal up so they don't leak. You do know there is two more options on a performance head gasket for the 1.9 right? The Italian kevlar head gasket and there is a MLS head gasket.

What are the latter 2 like (the Italian and the MLS)?

Cause either way...I'm taking my head off this season and i don't feel like putting on another cheap ass Fischer Price gasket. Preferably a little thicker than stock.

um.. almost any decent sized town has somewhere that can make you a copper head gasket.. just give them a regular one as a template and tell them how think you want it.. theres a guy here in the middle of Iowa that will make them for like 20 bucks

^^^IMO I wouldn't double up a headgasket. I think it would cause too much trouble.

Remember if you run a copper gasket. You have to have the block o-ringed as well.
Really? I swear I've seen a company that makes copper headgaskets that actually stamps a groove around all the critical areas. Between that groove being crushed, and the normal sealing action of the copper it was supposed to be really good.

Maybe I'm pulling stuff out of my ass, I don't know.

I was thinking the same thing....but a couple of guys I know that build turbo systems have done this in the past without a blowout.
True. I don't like the idea of a double gasket....but it is a tentative "possibility" of an easier way to drop the C/R.

hmmm..... :?
