Doesn't the 1.9 SOHC genearlly refer to the 1st gen motor 1.9L motor and the 1.9 SEFI refer to the 2nd gen 1.9L motor?

I'm not sure, so don't quote me on that.

I think someone should just answer yes or no to if they've done it!

I was thinking the same thing.

You should get more details on that starter.. since the placement on the 1st gen 1.9 cvh starter differs from 1.9/2.0 cvh's

the 1.9 SOHC generally refers to the 1st gen 1.9s, both CFI and HO. 1.9 SEFI is a term used to mention specifically the 2nd gen 91-96 engine... even though it too is SOHC.

    the two starters are different.

    Well

SEFI - Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection(2g Escorts)
    SOHC - Single Over-head Cam(I believe some 1st and 2nd gen Escorts)

2nd Gen Escort LX(not GT) are 1.9l SEFI SOHC Which mean they have have a Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection system with a single cam. GT has a DOHC (Dual over-head cam) and I believe its a 1.8l

    Correct me if Im wrong.

Different sizes. Doesn't mean any less power. Euroscorts have odd sizes and beat the hell out of our Scorts big time. 1.4l, 1.6l( I believe) and they have Scorts with like 750 whp. Its crazy. Modified out the a$$ of course.

    well

yeah they got the autobahn and speedless places to roam . i saw a 95 or 96 with a 3800 tuned port injection one time . the fabrications were crazy but the v6 in the escort was pretty awsome.

All of the CVH engines are SOHC. In North America there were 1.6, 1.9 and 2.0 versions. The 2.0 is known as the 2.0 SPI. In addition, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.8 versions were sold in Europe.

Over the years the CVH were equipped with carbureters, throttle body EFI , batch EFI and sequential EFI. The '97 and later 2.0 were equipped with SEFI and SPI (split port induction.)

SEFI refers to Sequential EFI where the injectors are fired sequentially during the intake stroke on each cyclinder. This differs from the earlier batch EFI where all four injectors fire proportionally at the same time.

The '91 to '96 CVH 1.8 were equipped with SEFI as were the '97 and later SPI. Some of the '88' to '90 HO engines might have had SEFI, although I have little info about these engines.

If I understand it correctly "SEFI" specifically refers to the fuel injection system used in the CVH engines. The SOHC engine in the escort is a type of CVH engine. So if you really wanted to be technical, it's a SOHC CVH, with SEFI (very long and redundant tho)
