Everybody knows its a 93!
Just think, OBDI... The cool dash that doesn´t slope. Lots of room for gauges with no airbags. You can change out the steering wheel really easy (no air bags). Has the cool 1 pc spoiler instead of the three. It has the reflector across the the trunk but can be painted, if you dont like it. And almost every performance part is made for a 93 that´s available on Escorts.

Okay, Okay...I love my 93...but --
Any 93-96 is pretty close without much for difference. The only differences is the OBDI / II difference. And the noticable difference is the dashboard, because 95/96 models have airbags. If you want one with airbags I would recommend a 96. Not only would it be more likely to have less mileage, Denis wouldn´t feel all alone with a 96GT

If you like the ol´skool dash look like I do, I would recommend the 93, because I believe the 94 is OBDII.

Doesn´t matter what you get GT is a GT. 1.8L BPD, 125horse, 114ft-lbs. 2dr, 5 speed maddness

oh, sorry....

OBD I/II has to due with clean air regulation of vehicles made for sale in the united states (kinda like the way Canada has to have daytime running lights now).

Anyhow, an OBD I car has only one oxygen sensor after the exhaust manifold. An OBD II car has two O2 sensors, one is after the cat-converter. This is to assure the engine is running cleanly......

if you only have one sensor you can just gut out the cat-converter with no probs...in an OBD II car you have to install a "signal faker." Honestly, all in all not a big deal.

I´d have to go with the ´91. It was the first year of the 2nd gen, it didnt have the huge ass airbag dash, or 2 O2 sensors, and personally I like the 3 piece spoiler better, because it gets rid of the boxy lookin rear corners that you can see real good on a non-spoiler LX. but hey, everyone here is biased anyway. and all escorts have plenty of problems, so no year is better than another.

Having owned so many, and driven all the 00´ 01´ and some of the 02´s(it was part of my job to put it to ´em)I like the 86 gt(though a first gen) cause when ya step on it you really have to work to keep it hooked up.Lindfrvas & I bought it from auction for cheap, and it has remained a blast to drive.I cant remember ever being beat in that car.Freeway or street.I was rollin on I-405 and this fool in a jetta thought he had somethin´ 4 me please! You better have nos and balls of steel if ya wanna play with me.Although My 94 lx was much easier on the eye,

just a little FYI I have a 94 and it is not OBD II it is the same as the prior 2nd gens. Perhaps it was a split year but I am pretty sure the OBDII came in 95. And when it comes to changing steering wheels, I can talk you around the airbag. I don´t want to just post it because I don´t want someone diabling it and then blaming me later. So if you need help with air bags let me know privately.
