My two door has its speakers mounted onto plates in the back, but I have yet to find speakers that will fit in the back. Does anyone know what size they are, and if you have some that fit what brand are they?

I was told to put an adapter plate in there to get a speaker (5.25) to fit under the covers.

anyone got a larger speaker at that location.

5x7 in, thats what I have back there and i am pretty sure thats the standard. I am not sure about gts or ponys, but likly they are the same. I heard 6x8s and fit too, but i only heard that, and i guess its possbile to put a smaller one in with some moding. Your best bet im my opinon is going with the 5x7s.

ok...... 94 escort GT, rear speakers were 5x7, and i was told i could fit a 6x8 in there..... i didn't try it though. instead, i put 6x9s in my back shelf, and wired them up using the wires from the 5x7s in the rear.

all i did was cut a couple holes in that shelf big enough to put the speakers in, wired em up, and that was that lol

the front speakers in the front should be a 5 1/4" speaker (about the size of a cd or a dvd)

the sound/bass i get from these new speakers are AMAZING. i haven't put new speakers in the front yet though, mine sound scratchy and buzz when they hit bass notes. i think they might have water damage (stupid paper cones) so i might put some plastic cone speakers up there too...

I have tried the 6x8 and they dont fit you would have to make a bracket for them to blot on to because you can only screw in one blot because they are a little too big. The only 5x7 i could find were these pioneer 2-ways, they work but they are not the greatest. By the way the front speakers are 6 1/2"

I had a 95 4 door Sedan with 6's maybe in the rear

Hey Guys,
I had a 95 4Dr a few years back now, and as far as I can recall the rear speakers on my car wasn't a 5X8 or even a 6X9. If I recall right they was like 5.5 or maybe a 6 or 6.5. I always thought they were 5X8's or 6X9's back there till I went to replace them.

In my 95 Gt that I had way back in 97 we had took the rear Cargo tray out and drilled holes in the center part (raised area) and drilled holes in the top and glued a thin layer of material to the underside of the Cargo cover and mounted a 8 inch sub there (sounded really great with the rear factory speaker locations (aftermarket speakers however) The Cargo cover held up really awesome for the weight as well (also mounted the amp to the underside of the cargo cover to save on trunk room (we went back and removed all the rear panels and used weather stripping as it rattled at times after that it sounded great

I have a 93 Lx (sport) I guess that's what's its called now day's that I just got from E-Bay. It's my 7th Escort to date. They are just such a blast to drive (like a 90MPH go cart)

1987 Escort Pony (car that started it all)
1988 EGT POS car but was fun at the time
1989 EGT Decent car overall
1995 EGT Awesome car was my High School present (should could have would have taken better care of it)
1990 EGT Car was pretty good but had been wrecked hard in the front end at one time and would tear the front end down about ever 6 months of basic driving
1995 Escort 4 door sedan very low mileage is what sold me on this one 41k in 2001 had 47k when I sold her in 2002
1993 Escort Lx (sport) been wanting another for a long time to redo and make a cool car like my 95 was and the price was too great to pass up on (Thanks E-BAY!)
