My wagon was like this. Changing the remote won't do anything, there aren't actuators in the other doors.

That's how my wagon is, except the hatch is keyless too. The other doors aren't wired and don't have the control modules so a new fob won't do anything.

For some weird reason Ford sold that as a step up from all manual and a step down from all keyless.

My ZX2 had the same system, but I now have the pass door working. If you are lucky, the terminals will be on the body side of the door connector for the lock actuators. You will need the 2 wires from a door that has power locks (I removed them from a harness) for the other 3 doors and the lock actuators.

It certainly is. On my 2000, Ford deleted automatic door locks entirely, so you have to use the key Every Time. No way to use the fob to find your Escort in a big parking lot. At least there's a button under the dash to pop the trunk.

Got the new cluster W/ tach in! Plus blue LED upgrade (eBay) here is a tip: if you do the LED light upgrade and some of the LEDs do not illuminate, simply pull your cluster unit out and pull out all the faulty LEDs. turn the LEDs that weren't on 180° and put them back in and they will work.[IMG]

Changed the oil and cleaned the MAF.

NAPA has their brand oil for $1.99 a quart until July 31st. You can't beat an oil change for less than $10.

Less than $10? It's been a while but I thought they took 5 quarts. Plus filter.

    Filter included?

Yep. You're both correct. My bad.

4.5 doesn't sound right for 98. IIRC, 4 fills it up. What's different from a 97 compared to a 98 to make a .5 quart difference? Aren't they the same engine?

Deeper pan? I dunno. Half a quart isn't much though.

I spent the last 4 weeks, one saturday or sunday at a time, repainting my car using Rustoleum satin black. Also armed with sandpaper, painter's tape, and a sanding block from Harbor Freight, I started with the roof, then the hood, the entire rear quarter, all 4 doors, then finished with the front bumper and fenders today. I just need to find someone to weld/fill in the door molding holes and I'll paint those over too for a smoother look. 9 cans later, the car looks much cleaner with paint. So technically it's 98 percent done, but i'll post pics once it's finally finished.
