My '96 LX sticker has these choices
175/70-13 (22.65 nominal diameter)
175/65-14 (23.0 nominal diameter)
185/60-14 (22.7 nominal diameter)
185/60-15 (23.7 nominal diameter)

So, I gues I wonder if they had a different speedo gear for running that last tire size.

a 96 should have 195/60R14's

13" wheels don't fit over the calipers of the 94-96 model year.

They might even be 185/60R14's

a few people i`ve spoken with `round here have told me they had 15" on their `scorts.if i`m not mistaken didn`t the gt come with 15`s? i would expect that ford did change the speedo gear for that purpose.actually,i had run 185/60-14`s on mine for the winter and, every time i`d go past one of those digital speed postings the cops put on the side of the road,it registered 5mph slower than the one in my dash.not sure what that means actually.not sure how much i trust those digi-readouts anyway.

The first three are definitely LX. The first one is probably 91-92 LX's when they still had the small brakes. When the brakes were upgraded in 93 they must have used the 175/65 and 185/60 on the 14" rim as the 13" rim would FIT but the vehicle could NOT move.

There is only a .9% difference between the 175/65 and the 185/60, as you can see, nominal diameter is only .3" apart. So I doubt they even changed the speedo gear with cars equipped with the different size tire, as it's less than a 1mph difference on the speedometer.

zzyzzx, gotta remember, these cars are getting old and people have replaced tires so... you never know.

Just like the EGT comes stock with 185/60's but when I got mine it had 195/60's on it.

I know, but I always replace them with the exact same size tire, and I bought the car new.
