If you are looking for major drop, go with coilovers. You can drop them at shows, but raise them to drive on the street.
As Beaverboy said, you have a choice. If you want a good ride, leave them alone or go with a 1" drop. If you want looks, you might as well throw away any thoughts of a good ride. You can have one or the other, not both.
