when we are talking about intake, im not sure if *sucking big time* is an appropriate slam for this topic.. because sucking big time is the way to go with intakes :)

I think it is a great intake. I have one on my car. I am currently installing a turbo on the car so if anyone wants it I can sell it probably next week. PM me if you are interested.

weaponR does suck its highly restrictive. look at the size of the tub in comparison to the stock rubber intake. tho the stock is crinkle bends it is till much better then a weaponR. buy an accorrd intake w/cold air ext. (90-93) for 40 bucks shipped off ebay and it will dominate a weaponR!

There have been a lot of debates over the size of intake tubes and a lot of people say anything too big will hinder performance more than help it.

i've heard that before. now, i've noticed that between the automatic and manual (LX's) that there is more space down toward the bottom in the engine bay. perhaps it's because of the smaller tranny for the manual. anyway, correct me if im wrong, but won't the cold air for the accord fit better in the LX's engine bay better if it's a manual? and still, are will you have to relocate the battery for this operation??

I have a Weapon -R intake on my car and from a fitment and ease of installation perspective, i think its nothing more then pure junk. Any intake that has you drilling holes to adapt the MAF to the intake tube is not worth your time or money. The tube itself didn't fit worth a sh*t either, it was too long and caused clearance issues with the battery. I ended up leavin the installation to my friend Jose who's been in the racing scene (import and domestic) for 10+ years. He had to cut the intake tube on both ends to make it fit and PS the plastic couplings they give you in the kit are junk. For the TB to intake tube coupling, find an OEM style rubber coupling thats long enough and flexible enough and your good to go. All in all if i were searching for a cold air intake, i'd definitely go with CTA motorsports cause they are made to exactly fit 91-96 escort without any complications. As far as the performance goes, i really couldn't tell you what JUST the intake did, since i had a complete exhaust from header back installed at the same time. But with the exhuast i noticed some huge gains, especially from mid-high rpms.

I dunno what all the complaining is about... I have Donnies old Weapon-R intake and it went in no problems... Although I think it was a prototype or something, it has no markings on it... But it fit great and I looked down it it seems bigger than the stock tube was, who knows, but it sure as heck has worked great for me. I had the whole thing in in under half an hour. and the only thing I had to do was cut a gasket for it since nobody around here had the proper gasket for the MAF.

theres not really much of a debate, its a known fact that to big of piping will hinder a car, unless you are pushing around 220HP the best size for intake piping is going to be 2.5" ( there are a FEW exceptions though hondas new K series engines being one of them), and even after that 2.5" piping is generally still adequate, look at the aftermarket piping kits for DSM turbo's.. everyone that i have seen is 2.5", any repectable intake company uses 2.5" piping, look at AEM. you go larger than that you hurt your low end becuase you cut down on the air velocity, while it might give you slightly more power in the upper RPM range it hurts your power band till that point, which in turn makes your car slower. in conclusion weapon R makes a sh!t intake thats not worth your money, same goes for the CTA, piping is to big and it doesn't have any engineering in it, the only designing that went into either one was making it look good to put money in the manufacturers pockets.. not help the HP ratings on your car

i know turbo is a bit different but all my pipes intake and charge are 2.25 mandrel bent. its not so much the size in a turbo application at times as the flow rate. a nice clean flow will make a world of difference.

the n/a world it comes to size and flow. 2.5 inch is the number you want 95% of the time. like larger displacement motors liek teh 2.3 litre honda motors will want a 2.75 or possible 3" but even then its almost over kill. if you run teh accorrd intake you will need to trim teh ends a bit but it fits nice and will run smooth. just take your time and get er' done.

weapon r is to small and pulls your filter closer to teh engie causing more heat soak. costs how much to much? how is that better?

cta is atleast the restrictiveness of a stock tube if not worse. it is a perfect 90 at the t/b and has 2 rubber accordian couplings like the stock tube. costs how much to much? how is that better?

the accord intake takes a bit more work to finish up. it flows better. its the proper size. it comes with a cold air ext. if you choose to use it. its only like 40 bucks shipped off ebay! doesn't come with a filter adapter but when you buy one for 15 bucks off ebay it comes witha filter you can sell for the same price to a friend.

am i getting my point across?

weaponr intakes are ok but not fantastic ... at least in the import world ... all the rest of their equipment is BS, in my experience. I was an early user of their "coilovers" ... shifty plastic spring on top of spring with two different spring rates on each strut ... smart, very smart design. constructive interference? yeah, they bounce ... "a bit" ... never buying a piece of weaponr equipment again.

if you build it correctly with the right measurments and all, it should work out just as good as any intake. but you won't get the "pretty" look you'll get from any other aftermarket intake.

I've had 1 problem with weapon-r. THey actually seemed quite intrigued and willing to help when I told them what car I was putting the intake in they were totally helpful on what I needed to do to get one custom made. However after I e-mailed them and called them they didn't reply until after I had gone to CTA and already installed it. So as far as customer service goes, it's the pisser. Yes I know I posted in an old post.
