you might want to sticky this as many members are throwing out cars on an annual basis.

I called these guys and was quoted $100 for my escort gt for scrap. I told the guys it had no engine or transmission. I called them on Saturday and asked them to come on Sunday 8pm. By 8:30pm on sunday I called back. They say they will be there in 20 minutes. Come 10:30pm I call back and they say that if it hasnt been taken yet the guy isnt coming...

Great. quite the opposite of what their website says will happen..

but i am dumb and want my $100.

I called them Monday morning and said come pick up the car, I am leaving it on the street in front of my house. They said they would be there by 10am and not to worry they will leave the 100 in the mailbox and I left the ownership in the car for them.

THEN I come home from work. The car is gone. great! but where is the $100? call em up, they never even picked up the car. it sat there all day and got towed by the city after being on the street all day. great

so I call up these guys, they say they are sorry and apologize and say they will meet me at the impound lot in the morning. I go to pay my $210 for car abandonment and then their tow truck guy shows up to pull the car from the impound lot. Then the driver tells me, ya Im not giving you anything for the car, it doesnt have an engine. I call up their head office and say WTF you said $100 even without the engine. The guy basically tells me too bad.

Then the impound says I have 30 mins to get the car out of the lot or they are putting it back in the lot and charging me again wtf ? since I have no way of getting a tow truck there that will pay me anything I end up leaving the car with the guy for nothing.

So not only did I have to pay for getting a junk car out of impound, but I didnt even get the $100 I was promised, not to mention having to drive to an impound lot at 6:30am before work

    /rant

beware of these guys and dont believe anything they say.

Why did you pay $210 to get it out of impound, to get $100 for it?

dang, that sucks man. My buddy just recently had the exact opposite happen. His wife totalled a 97 Volvo wagon. He sold it on CL to a guy that wanted to rebuild it. A few months later, he got a letter from the police, that he had 7 days to remove his car, and it had an address listed. He went and found the car sitting in a storage unit, garage door wide open.

He asked the owners what was going on. The guy didn't pay rent for several months, and they wanted the car out. He contact the police, and they said since the title was never redone, he could take the car and apply for a lost title. So with police on site, he had the car towed. There were also all of the parts to fix the car, which the storage unit owner set outside for trash, and my buddy pulled from the trash, and put in the car. He ended up applying for lost title, and then selling the car on eBay for $1400. Not too shabby.

sorry to hear that man .. i did mine on monday aug23rd, and because of these kinda experiences, (and similar experience with S.A.W) , i asked first willing-available one to come take it.. signed away ownership ... (getting something back would have been ideal, but i've been into this situation before).. AUTO F/X or AUTO FiX (red/yellow arrow heads) screwed me on this ..

and when CITY gets involved, it gets serious pretty quick .. and yeah, u dont want the flagged plates/sticker or lien following u around... credit score system is a female dog sometimes..

    glad its over !
