Ok guys, I have been a member of this site for a little while, and I constantly read the posts for info dealing with my car..a 95 GT..I read over and over all the info you guys post about the gtx engines and the turbo systems out there..I just have a question, where do you find all this information from..I have tried to research it some myself and cant seem to find sh!t..are there any sites out there that offer information on an engine swap or only dealers willing to make the swap for you..and just how hard would a swap of this magnitude be? I love my car to death, I do...but I need that little extra WoooHaaa...And one more question..are there any transmissions that could easily bolt up in place of the 5 spd on a GT, I have a tendancy to phuk those up quite often,or even a way to beef up the one I have.....Thanx

Well, a lot of it comes from people who have tried things and then told people what worked. Darn near all good advancements in auto engineering came about in a manner like: "I wonder if this would make the air flow better at high rpms without giving up low end torque? yep, worked like a champ." (in a lot of cases it´s "well that was about freakin worthless!!"

Some of it comes from people (like myself) who say screw it - its nuts and bolts it WILL work if I have to die trying!!!

check out the article on adding a turbo to your stock BP engine. you can find it under topics on the main menu.

you can go to a auto thats about it. Other than that all you can do is be good to it. remember wheel hop is a big transmission killer.

If you want the zoom in your GT your first bet is to learn everything you possibly can about turbo´s and forced induction. And if you want information about the GTX engine. Just type in 1.8 GTX in your search engine and you should find it there, if not then look under mazda 323GTR or GTX. All the info is there on the web you just have to do the homework. I know I have and i´m still learning everyday.

I know blade is going to say this, and I completely agree with him...

The turbo should come last... uprade your entire fuel system, brakes, and suspension before you even touch a turbo. ]

You´ll find that a turbo seems like an easy install- just bolt on a little fan spinny thing on the exhaust, but things add up, and it´s better to basically plan ahead and start doing upgrades to things like the fuel system BEFORE the turbo goes in.

Not only will you need things like boost timers and a new fuel pump and injectors for the turbo, but they´re also a nice upgrade for a N/A car.

Thanks for the help guys...but I think I will prolly do the engine swap if anything, I read all of Blades articles and seen how much trouble he had with his turbo when he first installed it..I dont have the time, more over the Patience "throwing wrenches" to try all that...I have replaced the engine in my old 91 lx,which I still have, so I am familiar with the whole engine swap..just what else would be needed to do the GTX swap other than the engine itself...And one more thing...I have the stock airbox setup on my GT, I rigged up my old LX where it was free flowing into the intake and got a great sounding woosh when I dropped the throttle, any ideas on how I can do this to my GT without having to go out and buy a new setup, and without screwing up my MAS ??????
