So after an ordeal at the mechanic my VSS was replaced. Mechanic first said 50 then broke hold down bolt said he could not do it for 50 more like 200 I protested then said he cant do it all after spiting the sensor. Was told trans needs to be taken apart then pushed out from inside. Finally after much complaints they offered to make it right by buying a used tranny and installing for the original 50. After all that mechanic finally got it out by grinding and driving a lag screw to pull it out. Poor guy I knew it was a pain. Ended up doing for 50 as agreed.

So everything is fine except I don't see the speed cable coming out the top. Speedometer works though. When I asked mechanic said it did not have one and was electronically controlled. The car is a 97 Ford Escort Automatic Sedan. So do I have a cable that goes on the top of the vss or not is my question.

Tip the mechanic... or at least send'em a pizza. I'll bet there were more curse words flying around that shop than we'd care to know. Those speed sensors have been known to be a real PITA to remove.

It's amazing what having a pizza or two delivered now & then does to speed up your stay lol.

Thanks Guys I got thrown off by a blue cable that looked like it was routed on the vss bracket which it thought went to the vss. When I got it back did not see the blue cable. Was told it was wire harness that was moved?

I did feel bad for the guys so I showed up with a sack of beers when I picked her up.
