On the weekend I was coming back from the interior and when I got a bought 45min way from home after 4 hours of driving to my surprise the highway came to a dead stop with hmmm what’s going on I ask? Accident? Animal on the road? No some idiot decided to thro a cigarette butt out his window and started a brush fire! I was stopped on the highway for 4 hour’s while they put out the fire that was right off the road. Now we all know most if not all cars come with ashtrays so why do we not use them? I just don’t understand people who thro stuff out there window and think it will just disappears  I have no A/C and my dog was in the car with me it was frikin 35 deg. Celsius witch is very hot for a little dog good think I always travel with water for her. Also makes me mad because I had to listen to my wife talk and talk for another 4 hours!! some peoples children EH!!

I smoke and I don't use the stock ashtray, I am just weird like that I guess. I do have one of those "butt-buckets", self-extinguishing cup that fits in my holder. I never throw my butts out; it bugs me when I see it, so I don't do it myself.

Yup, the idiot that started the fire probably has no clue what he/she did...usually don't; that's the problem with idiots(oblivious others) and they are multiplying!

Here in Illinois, one can't smoke in a restaurant, bar, or within 15 ft of a business. They are trying to pass a law that states one can't smoke in the car with children(minors) aboard; that I understand and I don't smoke around my boys already. Soon the only place you can smoke will be in your bedroom with the curtains drawn and huddled under your sheet! Sure cig. smoke is off-putting to many, but I find those body-sprays and perfumes to be just as offensive to the senses. For those whom don't know, when using those products, others don't want to taste the stuff as you walk by. ;)

    ^you have a good point!
I find walking past the Bath & Body Works store in the mall to be far more offensive than cigarette smoke. :puke:

That's the same way it is in Maine...they've had the law for restaurants and other public buildings for quite a while, but the one about smoking in a car with children is a pretty new one. they also just recently passed another that bans smoking in state parks, mostly for the purpose of preventing forest fires.

I don't smoke in my cars. I just don't want them to turn into nasty ash trays with burns every where. If I do smoke in the car then that would give other people permission to also and I don't need some one else burning holes every where.
I also live alone and I don't smoke in my own house. I go out side or in the garage.

I don't smoke, but I retrofit all of my Escorts with the '97 "Smoker's package." The center hole forward of the shifter gets an ashtray and lighter. I also always get the little ashtray cups when I see them too. I store my change in them but it's a good selling point when you sell the car.

As for body spray, they need to ban that sh**! There is probably 800 times the amount of chemicals in that stuff than in tobacco products! Lord only knows what long-term skin and lung exposure will do. You can actually taste the crap when you walk past the effeminate man stores in the mall. I've also found that those stores often have more tools in them than Sears does in the Craftsman section.

I was offered the smoker package on my 2010 van. I don't smoke, and have plenty of the cup holder ash trays to keep change in... so I didn't get it this time around.

I kept the cubbie in my 99, I would way rather have that over the factory ash tray. I just have one of these in my vehicles for change.
