So I took my Escort to the a shop to have the windshield replace.

so old windshield was taken off everything was cleaned and new sealant applied
so the installed notice that the new windshield is 1 inch taller on the new windshield
    and does not fit.

now the stories start his supplier tells me that since it's a USA made Escort the windshield is 1 inch shorter then Canadian Windshield. I have owned 1 Gen escort since 1990 and never ever did a see a windshield taller then the other from Canadian and USA Escort even ford tempo's and topaz have the same windshield.

Now please please please correct me if i'm wrong the 2 windshields should be the same or not?

The thing is he call from N.S. To B.C. to find the right windshield and no one has it.
" he is looking in USA now"

so now I have a Escort with no windshield.

I think they sent him a windshield from a different years and Generation.

I strongly think that you are right and the windshield is the same for US and Canadian cars. For them to be different, the roof, therefore the whole unibody structure would be different which makes no sense.

I can phone up our local junkyards to see if either one has one of these cars.

I'm 6600 kilos from B.C. I'm sure it would not make it here in one piece but if you want to compare and see if they are the same be my guess please.

They are the same. A local glass shop should be able to find you a new one--for "cash & carry" pricing.

The only difference for windshields on an escort is body style, wagons and the 3rd gen two doors were different, that's it. Maybe he ordered one for the wrong body style

$400 for labor on a windshield install? I guess if shop time is four hours, that's "only" $100/hr.

Do you drive an "EXP" but got an "Escort" windshield? that could do it!

The EXP has a special windshield unique to only EXPs & LN7s.

The EXP/LN7 roof is 2" lower so the windshield might be 1" taller or shorter because the top of the windshield is also 1"- 2" further back than the Escort.

Otherwise all 81-90 Escorts should have the same windshield no matter the body style.
