This morning when I popped my head around to check on the site (I'm here all the time) we had a

"An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later."

I'm investigating the issue currently and am in contact with our Super Administrator.

I'll respond back as soon as I know something.

Yesterday I also was having trouble getting the pages to open. It's working fine now.

The server fires off an auto script and does it's magic to restore the site to working order, I'm guessing with a backup, I have no access to anything beyond my control panel. but I've been given an email address to contact in case we find it down again.

so as always keep on scortin!

Was it just me, or was this site loading only the dark blue background earlier today?

let me check and see what I can see.

edit: I'm not sure the company that owns this site is paying much attention anymore, the mysql server shows errors on the log I can see, "MYSQL server has gone away" yeah, that's saying the mysql instance or the connection stopped working for the site and I'm seeing it multiple times. wow.

MySQL server has gone away Yesterday at 4:47 PM - library/Zend/Db/Adapter/Mysqli.php

    So yeah it's possible

Hopefully they're not looking to dead the place. Curious to know how many sites they've discontinued in recent years?

If something does happen like that, I hope they will offer to us before hand or least give us the data base so we can restore it to another server and continue even if it's under another name.

Only if they want to get rid of it, we are not pushing for them to hand it over to us, right now they are doing such a good job at helping us get things in shape, we've been sitting months without much from them, but I finally found some help with a company contact.
