Hey all. First post here as I'm quite a newbie in the Escort/ZX2 world, though I was part of the Contour and SVT Contour world for a good decade previously and have soft spot for little front drive Fords.

Anyway, I'm part of a group of guys who were hoping to race 24 hours of Lemons with a ZX2 S/R, but it has proven to have a bit too much midwest cancer in the rockers to really be safely usable. So now we find ourselves looking to try and recoup some of our investment while needing to likely scrap the car. We have 2 engines (1 of which we did a refresh on), 2 transmissions, a new centerforce clutch, and some of the various S/R specific stuff obviously like the ECU and exhaust. My question is, is there a market for that stuff in this community or do people just go straight to whatever aftermarket there may be? I don't have pics or prices for anything, so this is really more of a feeler to see if we can sell off some of the good stuff and let it live on.

You can definitely sell some of the S/R specific stuff. It'll probably take a while to find a buyer though.

i've seen the pics of this car on another site. The rust on the bottom is awful. Too bad for the car. One thing people want from these cars is the rear disc brakes. Being in Illinois may make it really difficult to remove them though.

I'm assuming you saw the pics I put up on Facebook then. We actually replaced the rear brakes about 3 years ago. We may have even replaced the calipers, but I don't remember 100%. Either way I expect most of it would come apart pretty well.

Another thing people want from S/Rs is the ECU. The B&M shifter would also probably sell.

Why not just pick up another zx2 ( or any other 3rd gen escort) and swap over the S/R parts. If you are interested, t IMG_3672.JPG here is an S/R for sale in the Inland Empire Craiglist right now ( LA area) and alot of escorts with sound bodies...That's were I got mine from.. If you're interested in selling some parts, I may be interested in some wheels.

Depending on price i'd be interested in the ECU, rear brakes, and shifter. Have an '00 ZX2 i'm looking to rebuild.

I may be interested in the rear disc brakes too. I'm in Chicago, so I know about the Midwest rot to cars.

Hey guys, sorry I've neglected the post for a couple of days, been watching the Facebook group and forgot to check back here!

1993Tracer, here in Illinois "Solid Escort" is a bit of a contradiction in terms. Add to the the $500 price limit for a car for Lemons racing and it's not much of an option. Driving someplace with solid cars of this vintage to pick one up is also not terribly feasible.

We are definitely willing to part it out if no one wants the whole thing. I'll see if I can have the guy who's put most of the money into it put together a list of parts and prices.
I know we have 2 complete sets of wheels (1 is from a junkyard and we haven't mounted tires on them, but presumed good), we have 2 engines and 2 transmissions, but I think only 1 shifter.

Here's the info I got from the guy who has mostly put money into the car:
"The list of s/r special parts. Tikco struts $200, eibach springs $200, s/r ECU $200, B&M shifter $50, iceman intake $50, rear disc brakes with new rotors $200, 150 mph cluster $100, Borla exhaust $100, blue valve covers $50. New energy suspension Poly bushing set $50, rebuilt engine and trans with Centerforce dual force clutch $500. Spare engine and trans $300, roll cage kit $500, new Kirkey race seat and cover $400. 8 of the s/r wheels, $50 each. Prices are firm on seat, obo on rest."

I believe the bigger items would probably need to be picked up from the Peoria, IL area or buyer pays shipping/freight. If you're interested though, let me know and I will confirm with him.
