Yeah im going to change my clutch in one week
but my tranny grinds in second gear.. my friend ask me to buy the mazda 323 1.6 SOHC tranny

it will fit? if im going to the scrapyard maybe I can get a 1.9 tranny but im affraid that it can grind too !

so to change just the clutch its 500$ and if I buy the clutch + tranny it will cost 100$ just for the 2 pieces installation not included

WHAT I SHOULD DOOOOO??!?

i doubt the 323 will fit...

The only thing thats making the tranny grind is the synchro... it'd be cheaper to replace it than the entire tranny... but you know how those labor costs go with specialty shops like that.

Try to find a 1.9 tranny in a junkyard... about your best bet right htere.

most older escorts grind into second gear. its NOT REALLY that bad. mine has been doing it for along time. its just the synchro. double clutching into second helps alot. my synchro has been almost gone since i did the FI. those 200ft/lb 2nd gear drops really arent good.

it doesnt matter if you get another tranny the same thign will happen to it eventually

mine grinds soemtimes also, as I did not see whether you have a GT or not, you did mention the 1.9 and the mazda 1.6 so here's the info I can give you on this...if you have a GT then you should eb able to find a 1.8l bp powered Protege and if it has a standard you could try that out, although I would imagine they would have a similar if not exactly same problem as one has already...as for if it is a 1.9l I would say findin one of those should be relatively easy given the numbers that were produced and I think that the ones from teh 1 gen GT will work as well, but not for certain....some clarification on that would help....as stated above from allthat I have found out about the 1.6l will not work on the bp or the 1.9l

I have the 1.9
I think I will just chnage my clutch and let the original tranny in it
I will sell my car in 1½ years when I will have enought cash to buy a probe GT

Probes are overrated. Especially when you can put the motors in an Escort.

So stick the KL-ZE motor in the Escort and kick his Probes butt.

that is a good thing and I found a fairly good deal on the KL-ZE, I called them and the deal is this....it's $750 for Motor • Complete Intake Manifold
• Transmission • Power Steering Pump
• Engine Wiring Harness • Alternator
• All required Cables • A/C
• ECU • All Brackets and Sensors
• Distributor

when I called they let me know that this package actually does not include the ECU and that the trans is an auto...but it breaks out like this...for $100 extra you get a manual trans, and there is a $50 charge for customs then you get to add shipping

the quote he gave me yesterday would run me $1250 for the package with manual trans, customs and shipping to Little Rock

a probe beat an 03 Si? damn... that guy can't drive worth crap.

Driven properly the 02+ Si is just as quick as a 99-00 Si.

The tranny will not fit. Go to your local junkyard and find one, look on ebay, classifieds, etc. Do this quickly so you can do it all at once.
