Hello all, Came here hoping someone could shed some light for me.
I have the 92 Ford Escort 1.9L Wagon. Its time for inspection, only my plate lights dont work. It seems the is juice at the fuse box, but no juice at any of the connectors. Following Haynes, it shows this circuit going thru a parking relay. Only I cannot seem to find this relay. The wires should be red/black and black from relay to fuse box its white and black. The rear wiper also does not work. Everything else does. One question I have is what is the box under the drivers seat that has two wiring harness in it? And am I looking for a relay here or is it in the switch on column.
If anyone has experience here please enlighten me.

Just a little revision, I ment white and black to the relay, and red w black stripe and black throughout. I checked every connector starting at the fuse box leading back to the light itself, only juice at the box.

Hi all, just wanted to give an update. Sure enough, while I had idle time waiting for a response here, I decided to check the top right hinge location again mentioned in many posts. The first time a few days ago, I only poped the rubber off the bottom. Well, ten mins ago, I decided to pop it off the top and bottom and peel back as much rubber as I could. To my embarrasment. 3 wires were cut right off. Needless to say, everything works now.

Haha, if only I saw this thread sooner, would've suggested to check that wiring harness. I had a similar problem. I don't have a wiper on my hatch for some reason (I want one really badly though...), and I don't know if my plate lights were working or not, BUT: my defrost didn't work, which was a pain for the winter. So, I did just that: pulled off the rubber, checked, and three wires were cut, and 4 others had some insulation missing. Patched it up, all works now!
