well not 100% sure so this is why im asking but my escort no longer gets spark could this be remotely related to the timing belt breaking? im not sure if its broken or not but i know it needs to be replaced soon here. someone mentioned to me on these cars spark has an issue if the timing is severely off

It could be timing related. I had a belt break on my '88 once and it didn't have any fire. It could also be the crankshaft sensor or ignition module.

yea we checked when we cranked on it and got nothing. i took an ohm tester to it last night and set it to 2kilohms like the chilton says to but its asking me to see if it will read .4 ohms i got a reading of .001 but the scaling is the confusing part

if your timing belt is broke you wont have fire because the cam isnt turning an if memory serves the distributor is driven off the cam.

What year, engine? My 94 1.9 once still had spark, would not start. Threw me off finding the broken T belt. Spark controlled on the 1.9 in 94 by a crankshaft sensor. Bad assumption on my part to think spark and camshaft always are related.

well, make it simple, pull off the valve cover and crank it, no rocker movement is a broken timeing belt.

if the timeing belt broke, it could have killed your crank sensor on its way out the door.

replace both , drink beer!
