I'm no audiophile, but I do like music, and the stock stuff just isn't doing it for me anymore. Still, I'm not going to spend much on this, and it's getting done in stages.

1st - Pioneer TS-A841P 6x8s to replace the blown rears.

2nd - A Kenwood HU that does mp3 from usb nicely.

3rd - A simple powered sub would be nice, along with a set of Pioneer TS-G1643R 6.5s for the front for good measure.

All but the sub is done.
I'm thinking the Sound Ordnance B-8PT

Does all that sound OK, or will I want something else after it's all said and done? Just looking for opinions.

With the sub would put the total cost @ around $360.00, so it'll be hard to be disappointed with it, I'm sure.

what year is your car? that sound ordnance piece is bunk in my opinion. if you want to keep it simple get a single 8 in a nicely build ported box. and about 200 watts of power. it will not be over powering to your mids and allow you the little rumble you seem to desire. i know a guy selling an 8 that would suit you well but no amps currently. the box i could build you.

It's a 99 sedan. What's he looking to get for the 8, and where would you recommend that it be placed? Keep in mind it can't "take over" a ton of space in the car as I use it for a DD constantly. Oh, and how much for the box?

As you can tell, I have nearly no idea what I'm doing. :D But I'm open to being educated.

Oh, and the HU outs 22w RMS to each corner if that makes any difference. Like you say, I don't want to blow the windows out or anything. Just a "little rumble", yes.

in the trunk is the best place for it. but since its only a single 8 it will not need much space. like a 18x12" area in the corner is about it. that sounds like a lot but get a messuring tape out and look at it. its practically nothing.

here is a link to the 8's he has.

he had 4 of them in his blazer. you can see pictures of that install on my facebook page. i know i can get it out of him for 50. a custom built box for it would be $100 + shipping. shipping to most anywhere in the US is going to be about $30-40. that is combining the sub and box in the same shipment box.

see my facebook link in my signature for pictures.

I looked at your work, and it's great stuff, though out of my price range really. I know, I'm cheap.

I do appreciate the advice though.

Did some more searching and have settled(I guess) on an 8" JBL sub, a generic small sealed box with nearly the proper volume per spec from JBL, and a Rockford Fosgate Punch 300-1. Will be 150w rms with the JBL sub if I'm understanding things correctly.

The only thing I haven't ordered yet is the amp. Still kinda undecided about it. It's either the RF, or a higher wattage Kenwood. Thinking 150w will be plenty for me, though.

Should end up only $10-$30 more than the compact powered Sound Ordnance one. Not bad.
