Um, ok...so he wrecked an EG sedan/coupe...I have a few questions reguarding the subject matter and title of this thread...

1. How would that wreck have turned out ANY differently if you were in an Escort? I drive and EK EM1 coupe...and hell my car would look like that too.

2. Why the hell is that on "wrecked exotics" webpage??

Oh and one more thing.... wanna see the rest of those pics??? They are pretty graphic.

sorry that i have fat finger syndrome and to answer your questions.I have no idea how it got on wrecked exotics I just found it there and yes any car you drive you gonna get hurt or killed when driving fast no matter how well you are qualified to drive or are a race car driver. It is just most honda owners out there think they have the best car overall out there.Do you get offended like that when people put down escorts when you owned one?

Just like it's a stereotype that domestics suck in a lot of places, it's also a stereotype that honda drivers think their cars are the best and all. 'The best' doesn't come into consideration until you reach higher prices... Higher than I'll ever be able to afford. A FEW spoil it for everbody else. It's just that those few stand out the most. Each car has it's own advantages... Civics, I think, are more sporty, slightly more reliable perhaps (depending on which model/year of escort you're comparing) but lack torque, I.E. off the line power.

I still do. Escorts are my first love and I'll defend them to death.
Even the LX's? The third gens? The ugly? Like mine? Haha.

whew, that website is mess'd up!

but i heard that hondas, particularily the civics, have the best crash-test ratings compared to all the cars out on the road today. and neons i hear, are the worst (often referred to as a "death trap").

but i agree about the part that most honda owners being jerks often, but it's almost always with the REALLY banged-up ones with an exhaust tip who are. and the ones with the brand-new or really kept-up ones are the coolest people of all. it's odd, but it's pretty true-to-life. especially in ohio.

oh yeah, and VIVA EL ESCORTS, BABY!!! (or something) :?

haha werd

Most people on my site are very cool people...even the ones with 93 VX coupes with dents from deers and telephone poles in the front.

The ones that are jerks are also the ones that I refer to as ricers...they think they're badass because they know they aren't.

Neons and Cavaliers are the worst in crash test ratings. Escorts did pretty well and Civics I'm not too sure about.

civics are the best in ratings, trust me. my dad used to sell them. and my sister & brother-in-law were rear-ended by a semitruck at a stand-still. they didn't have whiplash, and surprisingly the civic wasn't totaled. my bro-in-law wished it was, because after it was fixed, the car ran terribly afterwards. heheheh, he's sporting a jeep now..

You obviously haven't driven a festiva before, have you?

Those things are instant death, guaranteed. I never drive that car even when I'm even slightly tired. I make sure that I'm completely alert, because if you get hit, you're probably gonna die.

Regardless, I think that civic owners are great. I've yet to meet one I don't like. I've actually yet to meet anybody who is into driving who I don't like. Pretty much every autocross event I've been to has been filled with very friendly and welcoming people, but maybe that's because autocross is for people who like DRIVING and not CARS.

I sometimes think that people on this board are so obsessed about cars that they forget what the point is... which is driving the car. I'd rather have a cheaper car and money left to enter SCCA events than I would to have a nicer car that I just got groceries with.

Anyway, </rant>

Not to rip on you, coyote, but many people think that.. but Honda engines are usually very torquey considering their displacement and revvy character. Many honda engines are over-square (longer stroke than bore) and have fairly high compression ratios. Sure, a 1.6L B series civic engine won't have as much torque as a mazda 1.8L BP... but a 1.8L B series motor out of an Integra GS-R will embarrass the hell out of a 1.8L BP across the powerband. Hell, I've never even driven a civic that I felt I had to string out to get moving. Hondas don't make good power on revs alone.

When it comes to building a quality engine of nearly any size in Asia, Hondas own. For small engines.. Yamaha and Suzuki give some pretty hardcore competition.

The rest of the car (in the case of the civic) is just gravy (double-wishbones, precise steering & lightweight). Honda's mission statement is something along the lines of a engine company that just happens to build cars and motorcycles.

Yeah I'd have to back beaverboy up on that one...

I've driven quite a few hondas, and they all have very nicely balanced powerbands... I think that their low ends are better than our low ends to be honest.

I would have gotten a civic, but I was a sucker for the 4-wheel discs of the GT.

I think believing that Civics lack t3h torque only applies to early '90s models and earlier. The latest gen Civics are quite peppy. But say, compare a Civic LX of the same year as my Scort LX - I'm probably gunna whoop 'em. As well, an early 2nd gen EGT vs the same year SI, the Civics back then did lack a bit of power in comparison.

Given the choice between fords and hondas, I'd take the honda any day of the week.

If you disagree with me, you are wrong.

Then I don't wanna be right! =^.~=

I plan on keepin' my LX for as long as possible, anyways. I know how it drives very well, and I enjoy it. If I can whoop a Focus SVT in an autoslalom with it, I know it's a keeper. =n.n=
