Okay I know this isnt an Escort but I need help.

Today my buddy brought over his '84 f150 for me to change the oil in. After I was finished the damn thing wouldn't start. Its a carbed 302ci.
So I checked it for spark and found it had nothing. I know it cant be complicated I mean its carburated for god sake.

I went ahead and replaced the coil but still nothing. My next guess would be the the pickup in the distributor. My question is, Am I on the right route or am I missing something else I should be checking????

PS... The plugs, wires, cap, rotor are all in good shape. Also I do have fuel.

does that thing have a dura spark box on it? they are notorious for going bad, and sometimes just a bad ground can cause them to act dead.

did it start before you changed the oil?

If it did thats kind of odd. I would check your wires especially your battery terminals could just be a loose conection as well as your fuses.
