I would for the mere fact that if you get any thing in there it could do damage to your pump or get lodged in the thermostat causing a gouge as the thermostat opens and closes that eventually the thermostat could hang up on, or in the water pump seal eventually causing the seal to fail.In "bad" garages they don´t change the coolant when doing a thermostat.In "ok garages they change the coolant.In "good" garages they will completely flush and refill coolant when they change the thermostat.
