Many put a breather filter where the PCV valve is and plug the nipple at the other end of hose. Some have installed PCV oil catch cans to collect oil that would be introduced into the intake through the PCV system. Never had an issue with mine, so it remains stock and maintained.

Are you saying you can Plug the top hose on the PCV and put a breather filter on the bottom hose, Thereby removing the PCV hoses completely? I've been having trouble with my PCV hose breaking constantly, and don't feel like buying the $45 new hose.

I had the same problem as you do with the tube. My stock one was getting old and Seafoam made it collapsed. I went to Lowes and lol bought a air hose and it collapsed from the heat. I then went to Advance Auto Parts and bought a radiator hose that fits the pvc valve and it works great. Been that was for 9 months or so. Still holding up. I zipped tied it too so the bend is less on it. Hope that helps you. I think I spent around $10 or less. The one I got was a pre-cut one.
Thank you.

ok first off do something they call blue printing finding the best parts with the best fit it was what they had to do for road racing in the beginning when they were only allowed stock parts every manufact has specific "tolerances to size of pistons ect or else there would be excessive waste" including con rod weights so yeah balancing is a must coming from somone who works on engines daily bike and car, it may seem better balanced but its not ford never assembled these cars by hand taking time to perfectly align and weigh everything they had machines throw it together with tolerances to +or- actual need every little tiny bit counts
tighter fitting bolts, using grade eight cap screws with hardened washers waisting fasteners (lightens a lil bit and also lets the fastener strecht preventing failure and fatigue) increasing fit by making surface to surface joints using a modern sealer and milling surfaces to match. compression and crap like that is not good if the cam prophile and dynamic compression is not matched anyone needs the formula its dcr=(swept volume at point of inlet valve closure+clearance volume)/clearance volume

I was looking around on zxtuner and I found a BlackBox that hooks up to your PCM and adds up to 16hp at full throttle to the 2.0L's. They say it's one of the best performance mods you can add to your escort for under a $100. I was just wondering if anybody else had seen it or has it and what you think about it, so check it out: ill be here:sleep:

why dont ppl understand that double valve springs take double the power to open???? unles you plan on spinning it 7500rpm you dont need double springs.
Not necessarily. Coming from the 10K-rpm+ motorcycle world, double valve springs there were used for two purposes: 1) to provide the same seat pressure without a huge single coil (which would bind), and to prevent resonance from creating float. With one spring at one coil 'frequency' and the other at another coil rate, you can avoid float as one overlaps and takes over during the resonant freq of the other -- total seat pressure doesn't *have* to exceed a single one, but they commonly do. Even better are beehive springs, with a tapering diameter as well. ;) I do agree with the last sentence, though... get dbl springs if you plan on keeping it at power peak and beyond for roadracing, not for 'cred'.

My car has 211k on her with my valve seat problem fixed on the OEM head, for now. I think if I did get that BlackBox, I would blow my engine. I get up on it 3k RPMs or so and rearly hard but she runs so good. I have catback exhaust and modded OEM CAI. Is there a video of this BlackBox in action? I am not sure if I would be better off getting a ZX2 engine and rebuilding that vs my SPI. Machine work is costly.

do a L5-VE swap. it will require minimal mount modifications, and is much better motor. 150hp stock. L5-VET is 190 -200 hp debending on boost set up. Got the idea from my friend across town, he did an L5-VET swap into his 97 SE

^Pics of swap? The intake and exhaust on that motor are swapped which could cause some interesting fitments issues, not to mention the cable shift trans and CAN bus ECU.
