Ok guys I have had this problem since I put the ACT racing clutch, and Fidanza ultra light flywheel in. Say I am stopped, I put it in first, try and slip the binary clutch as much as I can and 90% of the time (not every time) it makes a loud ´howl´ almost sounding like a chirped the tires- when I didn´t. The only thing that Braden and I could think it would be is the design of the Fidanza Flywheel face, since it´s unbolt able, and the bolts are counter-sunk, and when the clutch is barely touching the face its makes this mysterious noise. But it´s anyoing and I would like to fix it. Any idea what this could be?

I remember waaay back in the day, a guy on the EGT lists with a red GT did a GTX swap and did a ACT clutch and he was getting this ´howl´... but I cannot remember what he said he had done t fix it? Think it was Matt Kephart (something like that). Does anyone else remember this?

i didnt have an answer for ya so i posted on the EGT list...here is a response i got:

Did you replace the driveshaft seals when the clutch was installed? If so, I can verify that it is the problem. I just installed a Performance Buyers Club Max-5 clutch and pressure plate. I must have nicked the passenger seal when I reassembled it so I had to buy and install a new one. The new seal gripped more tightly and had ridges where the old part didn´t. The new seal doesn´t leak but it does howl every once in a while while engaging first gear. This is what I think is happening to you. Maybe buy and replace the seals with Mazda parts instead of aftermarket. I´m about to do that. The seal was only $6 IIRC.

Donnie, Thanks for posting that on the EGT List (for some reason I have been unable to join the lists for along time). Tell Jess I said thanks for the info. And I am sure I did not replace the driveshaft seals when the clutch was installed. And he feels this is definatly the issue? I believe here could actually hear this ´howl´ if he would Download some of my 1/4th mile runs on the Dyno; from my website- just to be sure this is the same noise we are speaking about. Thanks again for your help Donnie, and you as well Adam, glad you like my car that much (=
