Is it me or the antenna on the escorts sucks... Im sure im not the only one having this problem and it´s getting on my nervs, not that I listen to the radio often exept when im with my girlfriend because she sometimes complain of my music taste. Anyway is there something we can do to improve the antenna because I tought that getting a new cd player would solve the problem but it did´nt.

Anyway, any post are welcome. And yes my antenna is fully stretched why I say the signals suck.

PS: Don´t tell me it depends on the channel or where you are. I tested with other cars.

Once again sorry for my dumb questions, sucky english and thank you for your comments...

my sounds sytem in my scort waggy sucks big time. No fidelity, no nothing. I don´t have the money to put something nice in it, but I´d love to. God it would be sweet to listen to a nice solid thwoop of industrial techno while I´m flying through the sierra coastline...

Enough dreaming... I think I have the same problem.

Happens on any radio channel (yes, I´ve got everything still stock- a plain jane radio tuner, no casette, no nothing). And what happens, is whenever theres something on the radio that is suddenly louder (rapid increase in voltage), the system "chirps". It´s like a kindof tweeting. You get used to it, but it´s really annoying if you´re not.

I didn´t know if it was the antenna or the soundsystem (figured it was the soundsystem)- but I could never isolate the problem by playing CDs or anything because I don´t have a CD player installed.

Btw, was it hard to stick in an aftermarket box?

Not really siragan...the hardest part was getting the damn factory tape player OUT of there...there´s supposed to be a tool that pops it out of there, but it didn´t work so me and my friend just started breaking the tape player all to pieces. Now I wish I hadn´t done that... Right now my Pioneer in dash DEH-2100 MOSFET Super-tuner is literally SITTING in the dash, it´s not bolted down. If i want to put in a new player all I gotta do is remove my ash tray and push out on the back of my CD player...heh

If and when you change your player (if you do it yourself), I suggest NOT chopping your wires in the dash...If i had found a "Ford" kit for my cd player I would´ve done that...now all my speaker wires are too short both in the dash and in the doors/back for the speakers, which is part of the reason I want to re run all speaker wires and leave a bit coiled up in the doors etc.
Ok, back to the problem...I used to have that problem too, FourDice, but I usually have a CD in...well almost always. It´s probably just your antenna FourDice. There´s aftermarket antennas, don´t know how well they boost your signal. but they´re out there. Just go shopping at a place that sells speakers, amps, etc.

well, since you rudely shot down my brilliant Idea, I´ll throw another one at you. maybe when you installed your cd player, you didn´t get the antenna cable all the way into the back of your cd player? that could cause interference/weak signal. check that out.

Something else i thought about, maybe all your radio stations suck around there? I know there´s a few of mine (one used to be my favorite station) that I can´t get in my car. Thats why I rarely listen to the radio in my car. CD´s are better quality anyway and you can listen to exactly what you want to.

Yes my antenna was put in ok and the radio channel don´t all suck because when i try in my other car i get a better signal and im in the same location.

Nah, it´s all good. Anyway, it could very well be the antenna cable that comes from the antenna to your player itself, it could have been cut open/rusted out at some point. if you replace your antenna, I´d replace everything, all the way down to the player, not just the thing you can see.
