Yeah you read the title right. I'm building up a EXP with boost. I have a rebuilt board over 1.9l HO long block. It came from a racing shop in TX. I was told its a smig under 2.0L. I have a horde of parts and a little tinny 500cc super charger. Shooting for around 4psi of boost and 175-200hp. Some things Id like to do for the SC build. 1: Dual exhaust, the stock header is a 4-2-1 header, so cutting off the last bit and welding pipes to it could work. Crazy idea, but hay why not? I have a few headers so I can always go back to a single setup. 2: Reground a cam for the boosted HO motor. Noting radical just more tuned for boost. 3: Adjustable cam pulley. I have the part so why not use it? 4: Roll bar. Jegs sells cages and roll bars for the EXP. Might as well get a roll bar to stiffen up the car. 5: Strut bars. Noting fanny, just a mild steel or aluminum pipe bolted to the shock towers. 6: Paint the car. 7: LSD. Wile a euro LSD can be made to fit. I'll likely use a phantom grip or jutted SHO LSD. 8: All new bushing. 9: Any steel bracket I can fab a replacement for will be refabbed in aluminum to lighten the car. 10: Swap the gray interior from the 87 to the 88. 11: EXP to normal escort grill swap. The stock escort gill is higher flowing wile the EXP grill is more restrictive air flow wise. 12: XR3TI ECU swap with interjects vam and stuff. 13: Replace everything with new parts were I can. 14:Remove all power options to lighten the car. 15: Put gray interior from the 87 in the 88. 16: Lighter aftermarket rad fan, the slim kind that mounts to the rad via zip ties or something. 17: Probably never going to happen, but I'd love to find a AWD tempo and convert the EXP to AWD.
