on my 95 lx sedan, the orange reflective strip is under the red part on the back. but on pretty much every other escort i've seen (lx, gt, non-gt, 2 door, 4 door) it seems like the orange is on top of the red. why do they differ??

Does your sedan have the orange reflective strip along the lid of the hatch? I know that the 91-92GT tails differ from the 93+'s

Actually all the GTs are the same as far as I've seen, Zeemax's 95 GT has the orange on the top. I think the LXs were different in design as well as in orientation of certain pieces.

all 2nd gen HBs(2 & $ dr HBs) have amber on top in the taillights, and if as on some models it has an amber strip in between the lights then it is of course on top too. Some models and all GTs also have the red panel going across too(but interrupted by the license plate). It is naturally below the amber strip. Sedans are totally different in the sheetmetal so the taillight fixture is different. The amber strip happens to be on the bottom. The whole light fixture goes all the way across unlike the HBs. Other years of sedan have no amber at all. The model of sedan might affect its lights too. I'm talking about the LX- E. It's foggy to me but in some or all years it might have different taillights from the LX or whetever other lower sedan there might be. OR it might only be a year thing. Maybe someone here knows for sure.

That is correct but the difference is only in the refractor pattern, not in the colour arrangement or the overal design of the light. From 10 feet or more away the difference is indistinguishable.
