i want to get rid of the orange on my taillights and rear reflectors on my 95 lx. can i replace with tracer taillights? or escort redlights that don´t have the orange (if they exist)? or are there custom taillights available anywhere (clear, smoked)? please help!!!! that orange is so ugly!

I know there´s an Escort with all red taillamps and white for the back up lights but I doubt they´d fit on your Escort, because your taillight configuration sounds like mine with the red on the bottom and the orange on the top with the reflectors in the middle. I want to take the orange reflector off of mine too. All you gotta do is open your hatch and look directly behind where the reflector sits. there´s six bolts that are like 10mm if i remember right from 2 weeks ago...all you gotta do is take those off and then theres no more reflector. I want to do this so I can bondo my hatch all at the same time.

I have a Pony I guess cuz' when I bought it brand new in 1993 the only options I got were AC and PS.

Well I remember having a 900 dollar rebate and a first time buyer rebate of 200 so I got it at (I believe)8795. Then I do remember signing my paperwork with a 21% interest rate. (Man was that ever stupid I did get it refinanced 4 or 5 months later when my mom found out about that.

Can you believe I bought it brand new and it still only has 58,937 miles.

Just wanted to get in my 2 cents...'93 EGT with 122,2xx miles.
I love it! It is a great car and it has a lot of potential to be even better. I got it in 1998 so I've owned it for about half of its life (give or take a few months.) Before the 'scort I had a 1988 Camaro with a 5 speed and the 2.8 liter V6 (a crappy engine that should never have been put in the Camaro. I mean, jeez, Chevy had that sweet 4.3 liter V6 that they put in the Astro Vans of the same era. It had much better performance numbers and a TON more torque. I've never understood, if Chevy was going to offer a camaro with anything less than a V8, why they didn't put that 4.3 in it. I still think that would have been a sweet setup.....4.3 with a five speed. The 6 cylinder mustangs would have had NO chance. I mean, that engine compares to some of the smaller V8's that Chevy is making now - ie. the 4.8 liter. What a missed opportunity for the folks at GM.) Sorry, that was completely off topic. Well, I saw people talking about their mileage and had a strong urge to chime in. Peace.

The only way to remove them in one piece is to soak them in mineral spirits for like a week and that will dissolve the glue. It also removes all the reflective paint (inside) so you'd need to repaint them with chrome paint later. Besides that there is no way to remove the lenses without breaking or melting them.

Get some transparent red paint (try a hobby shop) and paint over the orange part. There ya have your all red lights.

I've got tracer tails on my scort... but it's a wagon. So did the non-wagon tracers not come with a center panel? Or do they come with one, but it just says "Tracer" all over it?
