Just like the title says, my tachometer isn't working. In fact, it hasn't worked since I bought the car (the needle doesn't move.) It didn't bother me then, but now that I've put some hard earned money and time into it, i'd like it to be functioning properly. Is this something that's easy to fix, or do i have to take apart my dashboard? Also, on my shifter (automatic) , the gear selections (P , R, N, OD,D, L) do not light up at night. Same with the controls for my heating and air conditioning, they only seem to want to light up after i turn them off and on a couple times.

Is this all fuses, or some loose wires somewhere...or both? Thanks in advance. And Happy Holidays!

my tach is finicky too, I have to smack the dash for it to come back on.

the light bulb in the shifter needs to be replaced. easy to do.

as for the heater controls - do you have a factory stereo or aftermarket?

Mine don't work either. I'm waiting till the speedometer goes out before I take the dash off.

Pextor, i've got an aftermarket stereo. And I wasn't the one who hooked it up. Judging by the way they ran the sub wires and have everything hooked up, it looks like they knew what they were doing. Like I said, the heater controls light up maybe 3/4 time, so i don't know what the deal is.

Thanks for the info on the shifter light, seems easy enough. Now it's just a matter of finding the right bulb online

    should be a 194 bulb.

tach is likely the printed circuit on the back of the gauge cluster forming corrosion, easy to remove, easy to clean, but not a garaunteed fix. could be a bad gauge sensor or wire(s) shifter bulb is a 194 as pextor said, and the lighting on the aftermarket stereo face is another printed circuit, but as simple as hooking a pos and neg connection, you can hook it into your cig lighter, it will only have power when the key is turned to acc/on positions, works out 4/4 times
