within the next week or so i'm getting a 95 escort lx sedan. it has the stock system with am/fm cassette. i'm taking the system out of my wrecked firebird and would like to put it in the escort. my question is, will it fit?

the deck is a kenwood kdcmpv622 mp3/cd
front speakers are infinity kappa 6-1/2" components
rear speakers are infinity kappa 6-1-2" 3 ways

i don't think i'm going to use my sub, it was just an 8" jbl with about 200w going to it, it sounded great in my firebird cause of the trunk setup in there, but i doubt it'll sound half as good in the trunk of the escort, so i'm going to leave it out and down the line get something better.

will the infinity's fit? i might use the 200w amp to push the components. also, any good places to mount the tweeters?

thanks for any info...

a 95 lx i believe has front 5 1/4" and in the rear 4x6s, being the batchback (i believe) not sure what's in the wagons
so the front prolly won't fit, idk though but the rear you can just mount in the back shelf if you want.... but if you were gonna do that i'd just get a set of 6x9s like i got (check out my photo album for pics, or e-mail me at [email protected] )
i'm not sure, the front MIGHT fit, you might have to drill new holes though for it :? but for the rear, i'd definitely go for the shelf setup i got
since the speakers are more near the center of the car, i get the sound bouncing off the rear window more, so i can hear it better, but also i think i'm going to make a little enclosure setup on my shelf, because then i get ALL the sound, and not just some of it, and the rest filling my trunk

Unless the Lx's got shafted on stereo gear then the fronts will fit a 6.5" speaker and I don't know what fits the rear in the sedans. Check Crutchfield.com's car fittings list they will list all of the stuff that will fit your car without modifications, although it may require brackets, but those are either supplied or they carry them, and they usually aren't that bad.

As for the tweeters a popular and usually effective place to mount them is on the sail panels (the panels on the inside where the mirrors are on your door.) It sometimes requires you to drill into the panel or cut it to fit the tweeter, but when you place those thigns well in the panel, they sound killer. that's why systems like the Mach for the Mustangs use those speaker locations.

Edit: Okay, checked Crutchfield, and they say that you can actually fit
6 3/4's up front and that the 6 1/2's will fit the back. I'm pretty sure you could still use the 6 1/2's up front, you may need to but a bracket though.
that was for the sedan body style, which wasn't listed under the LX so I can't say 100% that they are right, but in my experience they had all of the info for the hatch style bodies right. Once again, Good luck on the system!
