Hello all,

Let me start by saying I'm new to this group, and wanted to let everyone know how much useful information I've already found on here. this looks like a great community!

I've been wanting to upgrade my 96 LX escort (auto trans) with the basic 3-gauge cluster (fuel, temp, speedo) to a cluster with a tach for some time, and finally found a good one on ebay from the same year. So i dissassembled the car over the weekend, and swapped the cluster out (switching my speedo into the new cluster). I hoped the Tach would get a signal from one of the three wiring harnesses, but it didn't work.

Then I found FEOA, and read through all the postings and saw many people have tried this.. Lots of good advice. I see I need to hook a wire up to the second connector of the EDIS in the engine compartment, but I was left a little confused.. where would the other wire of this connect to? Do I need to run it through the firewall and directly connect it to the tach gauge somewhere, or does it splice into a wire on the wiring harness? Any tips on this would be GREATLY appreciated. :D

Thanks in advance!

best bet is to get a repair book and compare the 2 diagrams together to figure out which wires carry signals, which ones need switching around and if some need to be added. Not too difficult of a task if you do your research
