I promised pics, and I deliver.

Holy crap, doesn't look too bad yet.

If this digicam were better you could see in more detail how crappy my rear bumper is. The previous owner got sideswiped in a parking lot by a black car, apparently.

Rust on the rear right quarter panel. It's getting taken care of during Thanksgiving break.

My hood and fenders are completely wasted. I've tried everything, wax, polish, rubbing compound, wetsanding. The paint is just dead. I'll probably borrow my friend's paint gun sometime in the next year and make it look not as crappy.

If this were higher quality, you could see the all sorts of gunk I should degrease.

OMG 1337 NKG Spark plug wireeez d00d!

When I got the GT most of the clearcoat on the hood was left. Most of it went away trying to bring life back to my paint. Now this spot is the only one with any clearcoat on my hood.

Leather Steering wheel, apparently only on the later model GT's. Really comfy grip, I <3 it. (The previous owner, for some reason, had to replace the steering column.)

I bet you LX people wish you had a tach. 114,585.9 miles on the clock so far.

POS Automatic Transmission. Yeah, I need to detail my car. Piss off.

Let the flames ensue.

Everyone has to start somewhere. With alot of time and money it can be brought back to life again.
And i was wondering if you wouldnt change your sig? If escorts suck that bad. Then what are you driving one for? Or is this place just a way station intill you get a "better" car.

Your Escort is absolute mint compared to mine. I mean "show room condition". You don't know bad.

You've inspired me to take pics and post them; maybe today if I can get off my fat a$$.

By the way, my LX came standard with a tach.

I'm not going to pay a lot of money to make it look good. It gets me where I need to go with descent mileage, and that's why I still have it.

It's going to need a new exhaust, and my friend found a junked Tracer LTS yesterday with aftermarket exhaust from the header back that I can get for less than $100. I'm obviously going to take care of the rust and am going to paint parts of my car, but I'm not going to spend that much doing it.

By the way, my next "project" is probably going to be a Pontiac Fiero SE. Mid-engined, baby!

Fiero's are pretty roomy on the inside actually. I sat in it already. It's hard to get in and out of when you're 6'3" and the car sits so low to the ground, but other than that it's pretty nice.

It's only $400 too!

Yeah some LX's have tachs - mine does. That GT doesn't look as bad as you made it aout to be. Too bad you rubbed off all the claer coat. If the base coat is still solid all you would have to do is spray it with clear coat and the shine come right back. If I spray my car I base coat the spot I am working on and then take a brillo pad to the rest of the entire panel and then clear coat the whole panel. It works really nice. I would get some fiberglass on that quarter panel first if I were you.

The base coat was dead when I got the car. I think the former owner got into an accident and replaced the hood, because the paint on the rest of my car is much better. My doors are actually pretty awesome looking.

Thats cool - just paint the hood then, or buy a C/F one.

Yeah, I've seen pics. Mine's still running pretty strong, believe it or not. . . I keep everything under the hood in pretty good shape. If I wasn't poor, I probably would try to make it non-ghetto.

The cost to performance gain is also the worst out of almost any performance modification. Plus, I think carbon fiber would look like $|-|17 on a red car.

I think this statement said it all. Let's face it - the Escort is a good student car - they're cheap to buy 2nd hand, good on gas and parts are everywhere. Real students don't have money and any money they have is reserved for beer or lap dances.

I don't want to openly acknowledge that xSatanx and I have much in common, but my car owning philosophy is exactly the same (and I'm no longer a student). There is no shame in this. I wouldn't spend $10 on a carbon fibre hood. To me, it's $10 spent unnecessarily on an "asset" that is nothing more than a money pit from day one. Cars are a necessary evil.

Other guys want their cars to look perfect all the time - that is fine, but obviously not the approach of everyone. I used to be meticulous with my Civic Si. But everytime I turned around it had a new parking lot ding from some thoughtless moron. Then I slammed it into a guardrail. All that time/money that was put into looks was gone and the insurance company didn't care how much effort I had "invested" into making it look like the day I bought it. Remember what recently happened to Fixtitmattman's Escort? Same thing.

xSatanx. . . I def. need to reserve that name.

Also, I don't know about you, but if I saw an Escort CF hood for $10, I'd probably buy it. . . and then sell it for $200. XD

No beer, me != a drinker. Lap dances I can do. . .

RIT has a male/female ratio of 2:1. It's even more atrocious in my college. So I'd definetly have to get a few lap dances.

[EDIT]What am I talking about? Lapdances cost money, porno is free! I need to figure out something more cost effective to spend any money I get on. . .
