anny one ever wonder why they never came out with an escort svt? to be one of the best selling cars at once, they sure didnt seen to under stand the power that they have created. they should bring back the second gen escorts, with an 2.4L turbo charged, ( 14 psi stock) , and all wheel drive. evem better than the neon srt type4

Ford conceptualized the american escort, as a fuel economic daily commuter. It wasn´t really meant for passengers or anything but a starter car. In fact the Special Vehicles Team at ford I think have only done the focus because they think the sport compact is the way of the future (aren´t they like 10 years too late)

They´ve done a lot of svt vehicles.
svt F150 lighting
svt Taurus (aka early SHO years)
svt Focus
svt Cobra
svt Cobra R (diff. engine then regular Cobra)
They even came up with a 10L Mustang concept. It won´t go into production though.

Hey, be glad that Ford saw fit to build an Escort GT, and kept on offering them through 96! Doesn´t really fit the concept of the scort being only a cheap, economical car. Still, it shows that Ford realized the scort platform has the potential to be so much more. And yeah, SVT coulda done wonders with it!
Now it´s up to us to build what Ford never did. What fun!
