does anybody have a list of suspension components that can be purchased from any companny on the net or wherever? im talking sway bars, springs, and whatnot. i need some nice firm dampers, lowering springs (to level out my 86 EXP) and a nice big ass sway bar for the rear, that hopefully does NOT run in the same location as the stock one, because it has about a billion bends in it. anybody know?????? :)

some of the 1gen people will need to chime in here but there isn´t much. however one of the members with a 1gen lives pretty close to me and we hope to start getting some stuff made.

Intrax, Eibach, and Susp Tech make springs for the 1st Gen, Addco makes a larger rear bar, and a second front swaybar, Overboosted.com makes a front strut tower bar, poly bushings can be sourced from BurtonPower.com, rear struts are available from Spax, Koni, and Sachs/Boge, but as for front struts the best are KYB GR2, which arent much. If you get the Ground Control front coilover setup from Cyberauto.com, you can fit them onto Konis, Spax, and Sachs/Boge. The 83-85 GTs and Turbo GTs came with adjustable Konis from the factory, they too can be fitted to the GC coilovers, which is what I am doing. I just bought a pair of those Konis new from eBay for $10.

the reason the stock rear swaybar is so funky is because of the high tech independent rear suspension that Ford put on most of their cars. The Escort was first to have that as of 1981. Actually you dont really need to do anything to the rear springs/struts of a GT, it already has progressive rate springs which ride low enough, and the rear struts are more than up to the task, all it needs is the larger swaybar and a custom strut tower bar, and maybe some poly bushings for the lower control arm.

I can get GC, Eibach, H&R , KYB, Tokico almost any suspension component on special order. In most cases I can beat anyone elses price. Feel free to e-mail me ([email protected]) and point me in the direction of a price you want to beat.

how hard is it to come up with konis for the front? EGTdude? i will prolly get the addco rear bar and some wagon rear springs. they are allegedly a tougher spring. what kind of sprng rate would be required in the front for it to be balanced with new wagon springs in the rear? bear in mind that i have an EXP. (which doesnt change a thing).

I'm looking for some performance grade struts for my 1st Gen and some replacement "poly" bushings too. Would like to hear any output about this.

does the 1gen have shocks or struts? if it were shocks it would be cool to build a relocation kit. then you could get damn near anything.

ok so I took a quick look. Never realized KYB has a set. So KYB GR-2 set of four $295. List price on all four is $415! That is a sale price from me normall it will be about 10-15% higher. I'll be doing a end of year sale here in the next week or so so I'm giving you the good price now :)

I can't find an application for the 1gen on either their site or on my price sheet. does someone have a part number I can go off of?

Matt: My 1stGen has struts on all four corners. My left front strut it shot to hell. I've tried looking for KYB struts for my 1stGen but like you, no luck. Maybe something else will come about on performance struts for 1stGens.

Thanks for checking Matt. Ghaze: Thanks for the info. about Tirerack.com, I forgot they had suspension parts as well. I've checked out the price on all four struts w/ new boots and mounts and comes to $360 w/o shipping or install. Just going to wait when income tax refund rolls around.

Yes, we have one or two.

Cost, don't remember, bought one 2nd hand. But you can find the info on Addco's site.

Help in handling, you won't notice it on the street
