    ok, correct me if im wrong, but the zetecs from zx2's and focuses are alot alike right? and there is a supercharger for a focus zetec at jacksonracing.com right? so my question is, is it at all possible to put the focus supercharger onto the zx2 engine? but wait, there's more! after its installed on a zx2 ENGINE, is it possible to put that engine into a second gen? the results would be unethical, yes. but the reward, oooh the reward of such a ghasly mutation would be awesome. :twisted: 8) :twisted:

    i believe the ZX2 zetec is damn near identical to the focus Zetec, so that would work...as for the 2g motor swap im sure its doable, the question is would it fit with the supercharger installed? got a 50/50 chance on that, and i dont know the answer...but while we are at it, why not go a step further...and use a 6 speed supercharged SVT focus drivetrain? now things just got really interesting

    the focus Zetec will not drop into an escort of any year without some serious modifications to the engine bay. while the engines are mostly identical, the mounting points are completely different. you could still look into fitting the focus supercharger on the escort Zetec though.

    hmmm, if thats the case...then find a wrecked SVT focus and pull the entire top end off it (heads/cam/intake manifold/etc.) and swap that onto the escort block...but that wouldnt make sense though...why would ford make 2 different blocks for the same engine? the 2 cars were produced at the same time, you might have to bolt it to an escort tranny if anything, but i dont see why the blocks would be different...if you can get a junkyard focus or even a buddy with a focus and you find an escort zetec, get the 2 side by side and check it out still. never hurts to double check.

    a simple answer to why ford would do that is found in their cruise control switch that catches fire. i may be a scort fan, but ford tends to screw up alot and especially in the r/d area. they dont really think things through. i will try that swap though.

    ^^ so your saying they didnt think the 05 mustang through okay. The Escort Zetec and the Focus Zetec are different, just like the SPI and the focus SPI, there's enough of a difference that you'll be SOL. Since you have a 2nd Gen I would look into a KLZE or GTX, way more power and for the most part easier...except maybe the KLZE but it would be more power.

    There is a lot more power to be had with a GTX engine in a escort. First off its a lighter motor. The 180hp is a rating from Mazda. Not always correct, it depends on the amount off boost you are running. You can run up to 15psi on the stock turbo and injectors.

    So cost and ease of install. I would swap a GTX motor any day before I would do the V6.

    thats true...but whats wrong with being different? quick question...is there any difference between the NA BP block and the GTX/GTR blocks that would make 1 more desirable than the other? if not, ill just stroke my current NA BP and boost it. yes, im evil like that...a 2.0L turbo
    BP escort muahahahaha!

    www.flyinmiata.com has a stroker kit for BP engines...i figure if a miata BP flywheel will bolt to an escort crankshaft...then a miata BP stroker kit will fit inside an escort BP block...its a little spendy, $3995, but thats also a nice setup, billet crank, pauter rods, custom wiseco pistons (i think? been a while since i checked the components)

    All of the Ford lasers ( OZ and JAP ) had mazda engines and drivetrains in them

    The Ford Lasers are the (oz/jap) version of the Escorts incase anyone doesn't know.

    In oz the KF/KH lasers came out with either 1.6 non turbo 1.8 sohc and 1.8 DOHC (BP) or the BPT with the 4x4 drivetrain in the TX3 models

    The b6t and the BPT engines are mazda made

    B6T = 1.6 16v DOHC Turbo 4 cylinder ( KE laser / mazda BF 323 ss)
    BPT = 1.8 16v DOHC Turbo 4 cylinder ( KF/KH laser / Mazda familia GTX)
    BPD = 1.8 16v DOHC Turbo 4 cylinder with better internals and bigger turbo found in the mazda Familia GTR.

    Im lead to beleive that the US escorts have a 1.9 litre engine is this true ?

    Since this idea is in the same vein as the original topic, has anyone thought of supercharging the SPI? Or, any good thoughts on where to start researching what it takes?
