So, I've been wanting to do this for a while and finally got everything to do it. Basically, I initially had the idea to do a "hard wood" floor (laminate) in my 89' wagon due to the fact that the spare tire cover had turned into a floppy piece of cardboard and everything kept falling into the hole where the spare should be that didn't come with the car. Afterwords, I had seen the Mighty Car Mod guys on YouTube do a sub mounted in a tire and the two just made perfect sense. So with a 14" tire from the wreckers, some MDF board, a couple a 2x4's, and the laminate flooring, this setup was born. I also have lined the hatch floor and spare well with some U-seal roof repair. That stuff makes a pretty decent sound deaden-er for about $14 a roll. The sub is a 12" JVC and a Lighting Audio amp picked up second hand. Got it all tuned up and it actually sounds really good! 13715990_1141722039196889_3208156491121448763_n.jpg 13782213_1147609028608190_9031624432759401924_n.jpg 13709760_1142314245804335_3687329487290250493_n.jpg

i'll give you an A for effort. it's def not going to win any awards. however if you like it good for you. i'm sure the sub is not nearly as responsive as it should be.

No, it may not be "audiophile" quality, but I've tuned in the system relatively well. It has good punch, and good response across the board.

heh.....not sure about a sub for my car, but I do like the "hard wood floor (laminate)" idea! Since I pulled my back seat out of my 98 wagon, the large stock carpet area it created, while nice in some ways, is still a bit shabby. Your hard wood idea could be an interesting change.

I scour the Craigslist Free Stuff section all the time. Laminate flooring leftovers are always available in all sorts of colors. I bet I could construct a nice floor cover that would lay over the carpet and folded down back seat.

    hmmm...ideas, ideas.... ;)
