alright guys, sure it´s been answered 10000000´s upon 10000000´s o´ times...

but.....eibach springs are the best? correct?

alright, now for struts.......

tokico? correct? now, i have a question, would kyb struts be basically the same, and still
hold the quality of the ride? i´m really not looking forward to dropping....260 bucks on
struts.......and i definantly don´t want stock struts......

or perhaps is there a better place to order the struts from other than nopi???

any info is welcome

Thnx in advance

OEM Ford Parts

both eibachs and tokico´s are sold there for quite cheap.
KYB GR2 struts are the same lenth as stock. The Tokico Blues for the S/R package are shortened about 15mm. The shorter shocks will complement shorter springs better.. meaning you´re less likely to bottom out the strut rod against the inside of the shock.. which could damage the shock. Both should be about 30% stiffer than stock shocks. Since you´re using the Eibachs which don´t lower too terribly much (which is good for handling) then you´d probably be fine with either shock.

Too bad Bilstein doesn´t make a monotube shock for the escort :( They make the best IMHO.

-I originally stated that they were 20mm shorter.. they´re actually 15mm shorter

on the oemfordparts website would the struts and spring for the zx2 work? i can´t find
them for a regular escort.....i assume so right???

that´s about 350$$

not bad at all
The Tokico Blues are from the ZX2 S/R package.. yes. The shock rod is larger in diameter than the 2nd gen escort, so you´ll need to buy zx2 thrust bearings or ream out the ones on your car... or so I´ve come to understand.
i´m not completely sure about the springs from OEM, i actually got them from an alberta company which was just slightly cheaper because of the shipping, but they were the same product number though. as for the struts, i just brought them to the local ford dealer (they turned out to be the cheapest install price, go figure), and said "here´s a set of springs / struts, install them." they never asked about bearings or anything...

after installation, my car wasn´t lowered though - the back was the same and the front was actually raised ½". it´s been a few weeks now though, and they´ve settled somewhat - the back is now down ¼", the front has finally gotten back to it´s original height, and getting slightly lower. just gotta give them more time :)
ok, well, i have a sudden increase in my wealth......i´m getting paid like 400$$, should be getting my tax return in this week....600$$ than i´m selling my 1st gen egt for 300$$

so my total is 1300$$ looks like i just need to find a shop to put my exhaust and suspension on.......should be able to order everything by next week....well hopefully......

i dunno...how much modification is need for tokico struts?? i here something needs trimmed? how hard is it to replace these parts? i´ll have basically a whole week to do it? my dad said about 1day for fronts and 1day for rears? does that sound right???

thnx in advance
my ford dealer / quick service center did the entire suspension installation in about 4 hours - all 4 springs struts. they also did any trimming needed, cuz they never asked me about it, and they´re workin amazingly. exhaust would take at most a couple hours.
i´ll be taking my car to midas/mieneke over springbreak......
i´m buying a dynomax super turbo muffler, and a high flo cat....along w/ my pacesetter header....so, that will be done, i´ll do the header myself....but everything else will be done by the shop...

as far as suspension i need to find a shop to do it......anyone in pa have an idea????????
but my struts and everything should be ordered by next week hopefully...hoorah!

thnx guys
Will midas/mieneke install parts that you bring in? My experience with those quick fix shop chains is that they´ll only install their own parts... and I really don´t reccomend their parts.. lowest bidder crap.

Find a decent performance shop.. where the techs drive some hopped up cars and have them install everything at once.
beaver-- so basically like dynamic image....there drive hopped up eclipses and del sols???
i need to find a quick way to do it so....i can have my car transformed before i go back to school the next week......so, guys i thank you very kindly for the information

it´s been a big help
I have a question, not sure if it´s been answered specifically. Can I purchase the Tokico 4 strut kit from OEMFORDPARTS and use it with STOCK springs? I´m in need of a strut replacement soon and while I´d like to go lower, roads on the way to work aren´t well suited for lowered cars. Please advise....and thanks.

You can special order the KYB GR2 from Autozone/Advance Auto (I forget the exact name but they took over Trak Auto) or Monroe Sensa-Trac if you want them.

I recommend avoiding places like Midas.
:-o
hold the phone no chains escepcialy midas they told me my frame was bent and couldnt be aligned after the redid the enire front end to the tune of 432.00 dollars on my 1989 that is why i got it for a deal cuz the chick i bought it from was told it was junk my buddy and i alignened it in a half hour at his cadillac dealership and it drives fine so really watch midas dont go there for anything they suck my 89 gt has about 40,000 more miles on it than it did when they said it was bent and couldnt be aligned find a local exhust shop they will work with you way better chet
As for bringing your own parts I did just that with my 1984GT when I replaced the exhaust. Bought new exhaust at the dealer and took it to a local (not chain store) exhaust shop and they put it in. I did call first though.

And it wasn´t particularly expensive either. Cost about the same as using their stuff.

You car should already have Tokico struts from the factory. Mine does. I see no reason why you could not use OEM struts with OEM springs, even if you did purchase your Tokico struts someplace other than the Ford dealer.
I think you would be better off using a 1" lower spring like H&R or eibachs

I meant the ZX2 Tokico kit, which is shorter than stock. Well hell, answered my own question... if the struts are shorter, would have to use shorter springs too, else the stock springs wouldn´t fit or would have to compress too much. Duh. Ok, scratch my question. :)
